I am from VA, born and raised. I have been riding motorcycles in VA and eventually most of the lower 48 states since 1966 and enjoying every minute even those when freezing in cold rain and light snow. I try to ride year round but don't have to commute to work anymore--aint retirement great. This has been a bad year due to health problems and the fact my wife and I took a long land tour and cruise to Alaska. Not my favorite choice for travel but it was fun.. For those who know the Richmond area, I live in Varina very close to the intersection of RT 5 and I-295. Would love to ride with you all.

Hi Harvey and other fellow Virginians! I'm located in Va Beach with Uncle Sams canoe club. Not a bad gig, just don't have all the free time some of you retired guys and gals have to get out and ride. I did manage to squeeze in a trip to Wisconsin for Wing Ding this year though.Learn to ride your bike so your bike doesn't ride you....

Travelinlite, We met several years ago at a CatsCade event as my feeble mind recalls.
USNrider, thank you for your service! I know several retired naval folks who ride. Guess I just assumed you guys would opt for SkiDoos instead of motorcycles or land vehicles! But I am glad you enjoy riding. How was Wing Ding? I went to one there years ago but due to a family emergency had to scoot home before it ended so I did not win the Grand Prize. Madison is a great area and I hope you got to do some riding throughout the state.Harvey

This was our third Wing Ding and it was great. For us, its more about the trip there and back so we traveled from here up to Niagara Falls and stayed the night in Canada taking in the sights and stopped in Paris, Canada the next morning for brunch. I told my wife that I took here to Paris for brunch and since it was out of the country it counts just as good as Paris, France. I don't think she bought it but it was still a good ride and a good meal. The weather in Madison was much better than Greenville last year and I spent most of my time at the outside events (Top Gun, Drill team, Amazing challenge). We also visited family in Iowa while there and the ride through the farmland was very scenic and nice.Learn to ride your bike so your bike doesn't ride you....

USNRider, I tried the same thing on my wife the first time we went to Paris, VA. We had some fun, but it did not work. I also prefer Washington, VA to the mess just north of VA but she only likes the hotel there.
Freebird. I remember when I thought that armpit was in Richmond actually on the southside of town around the Dupont plant and when that odor mixed with the tobacco odor it was bad. But as life moved on I discovered the Viscoss in Front Royal, VA. The mountains and hills around the town seemed to hold the odor there. But now the company is gone, the site is a superfund site and everything smells better. I had an Aunt and Uncle that lived in Norfolk for a while, really neat house on the water, but they moved to Chesapeake and are now passed.
Looks like we have enough of a group to put together a ride to eat.
Harvey

WestDC, I have been through Little Washington several times--right off Rt 522/211 as I recall. We used to travel from Varina to Front Royal frequently and I prefer the back way on Rt 522 and then hop on RT 231 to Gordonsville. Two beautiful rides. But fate has kept me away from that route this year.Harvey

Mike, I apologize as I had to look up Timberville to see where it was. Just north of Broadway on Route 42 which is an interesting road to ride. Welcome to the site.
Tblink, also welcome to the site, yes it has been awhile since I looked at this thread.
As I look at the locations it appears we have more members north of Richmond than south. Where would be a good place for a get together for lunch one Saturday this spring?Harvey
