I posted this on the "other" forum, and I thought I'd give members over here a chance too. I was thinking about doing a day-long RTE from eastern KS to Springfield MO to eat lunch at Lambert's Cafe next spring. Is there anyone interested in going or even planning it? I've only been there a couple of times, but the food is good even though the lines are long. From Manhattan, it would be about a 600 mile day, which might be a little long for some, but I thought it would be fun. Any interest?

There is one in the Springfield area too.
I went to the original Lamberts when it was just a hole in the wall diner with a lunatic that threw rolls at you!
The wife and I were on our way home on the bike a few years back and saw the sign for the new place as we approached Springfield. We figured, why not? They still have good food, but way too crowded and long waits to get a table.
Too touristy for my tastes, but everyone should go at least once.Comment: (For off-topic replies)

I would be interested. I have been there a couple of times (Springfield) and have been wanting to ride there. I am in the Kansas City metro area. The ride to Springfield is easy from here...don't know about the ride back with a Lamberts belly...Comment: (For off-topic replies)

Let's gather at Lamberts in Ozark, MO at 1:00 PM.
As a first cut on a route, I think I will go from Manhattan to Council Grove, then East to Harrisonville, MO, over to Clinton, MO and south from there. It is certainly not the fastest route, but it will avoid a lot of the 4 lane roads. It looks like both Ottawa, KS and Harrisonville, MO could be natural gathering points if any would like to join up there.Terry
