  • Death Valley 2020 - AZ Riders

The main DV thread is here, with some of the typical banter prior to this ride - in just over three weeks!

    https://www.theglforum.com/forum/mem...feb-15-16-2020

For the previous ride participants in AZ, I'm presuming our departure timing will be the same as it has been in years past:

~0915 KSU from the Mobil at Vulture Mine Rd & US-93

Shortly after 0800 passing through the US-60/Loop 303 interchange. I don't plan on waiting for anyone there; it's just about the time I get there, that's all. About that point in time I will have the CB lit up on channel 1.

I'll be departing the vicinity of I-10 exit 250 or exit 246 at ~0600. At this point, I believe I'm the only one from Pima Co leaving on Friday morning.

== The traditional stop off is at 7171 W Ann Rd, Las Vegas, NV. Mickey Dees and a Chevron is at that location. That's been our final stop on the north end of the Vegas metro area for 'cheap' gas one final time for the weekend.

Yes, some could make it from Kingman to Beatty, the GL1833 guys might not. There's gas at the Amargosa Junction, but for the nOObies, that's all there is from Vegas to Beatty.

I'll put a link in the main thread the day before we leave with my Spotwalla tracking page, for those wanting to follow along.

Ken, I'll be sliding in with you folks; already in conversation with biglefti. I'm leaving from the Mesa area. I had wanted to refill in the Wickenburg area so this works great.

Myself and 2 others will be departing from the Tucson area Thursday morning. The plan is to ride to Gila Bend, circumventing PHX via Old 80, Salome Hwy, and Vulture Mine Road. We are overnighting in Laughlin and riding to Beatty via Searchlight, Nipton Road and Baker, Ca. on Friday. See you there!

That *is* a fun way up there. Three? years ago, I did that - the stretch between I-40 and Baker was a nice way to 'warm up' a bit.

Folks, I've got to pull myself from this DV ride. Between me and now the wife having bronchitis, not being able to go to Mesa yet to visit the new grandson (until we're sure we're completely over it) and the timing of me deciding to get one of those new gear drives (and being retired and poor with only so much to spend) I'm going to have to wave off. Hopefully I can make the next one. Thanks much for the conversations I've had while I was planning this. Y'all have a great ride!

Understand Clay. You know when we do this - been a decade plus, so plan again in 2021!

I had a very slight bout of something myself; think it'll be gone completely in 48 hours.
