Figure I would break this group in.. I leave home August 17th to make my second attempt at completeing a USA 4 corners ride.. First attempt had major problems with a brand new Avon tire that self destructed in the 145 degree road temp heat across arizona. Plus 6 straight days of down pour rain from Mid california to Blaine and on over to New York. Hoping for a better mother nature this time. I am also including the Southern cali motorcycle assoc. 3 flags ride along with a 50 CC at same time just to spice up the adventure..

Okay, I just saw this post so that answers my question from the thread dealing with Hyperlites! I do hope the weather works out for you. Rain for a day or so is okay but it gets old after a few days. Of course that is one reason you have 21 days to do the ride in case you want to hole up somewhere and let the clouds move on. For me I needed a couple days following a crash to complete the ride.Harvey

Good luck! We started out way early in the morning and finished our desert rides ~noon each of the days across the southwest. Sure am glad we didn't ride the afternoons on those days. Food for thought.

Good luck to those doing the the Southern Calif Motorcycle Assoc. 3 flags ride this coming weekend (Aug 29 - 31). Might be a bit wet up north, but hope it dries out a bit more around here.
I might join y'all at the start...who knows!

Ken, saw your post. Hopefully you can ride over to the Doubletree Hotel at Reid Park, and visit with us. I am leaving this Sunday morning to ride down to Tucson....with stops in Carson City to pick up my riding partner, and then in Blythe, where we expect it to be 110 degrees when we arrive. We will leave Blythe at 2:00 am, and do the short 300 mile ride to Tucson, just in time for a nice breakfast at the Doubletree.
A week from today there will be close to 300 of us on the road from Tucson to Harrison Hot Springs, on the 39th annual Three Flags Classic. If any of you are going to Tucson, look me up. I will be the old guy (ha ha ha, lost in a crowd of old guys) that is using the cane to walk around, due to a pinched nerve at L-3, but I am committed to doing this ride. May be my last before surgery.

kniterider, what bike are you riding ? There is one out in the parking lot this morning at the Doubletree, and it has the IBA license plate frame on it. It is a BMW F800GT, with a Colorado plate...Is that you ? When you get up and around, we should be checked in by then, and in room # 121.

Here is a very interesting update.....kniterider is not riding this alone. I met the lady that is riding with him, on her own bike. Her name is Rhonda, and she has only been riding for 3 years, and she is doing all this on a 2007 HD Heritage Softtail. Folks, for those of you unfamiliar with what these two riders are doing, she is making a heck of a ride on a bike designed to go bar-hopping. And to only have 3 years experience in riding...my hat is off to her. I think kniterider is somewhere around the hotel, since they are riding this together. She is impressed with his bike, the CTX1300, so we may have another convert...HD to Honda...in the making.
Congrats to both of them for doing the ride they have so far. WOW !
