  • Tire Wear

The 07 Wing that I bought 3 years ago has been the most tire-eating bike I've ever owned. I think that has officially changed... When I picked up my 2011 Connie a bit over 2 weeks ago, the owner stated that there was about 5k miles left in the tires based on his experience. I knew that there was no way they'd last that long, but was trying to be optimistic. I've put 1200 on it, and the left side of the rear tire is at the wear bars. Front tire has a bit of life left in it yet. Tires for this thing are just as expensive as the wing. Guess I need to add an additional $75 per pay period to the tire fund for the new toy...

Think that's bad, ride a sport bike and see what 3~4k miles life span of even more expensive tires is like

Pretty sure he was only getting about 4k on the Wing, my guess would be 2500-3k on the Connie is what he will be averaging.
      Nice bike Flip, congrats!

Exactly right. Figuring I'll average about 2k on a set on this one. Gotta play to pay, right?

Yep, it's one of the reasons I moved over to an 'old man's bike'. Now I can enjoy longer tire life.

Gonna try the pilot road 4s this time around. Maybe I can get to 4k on a set. Doubt it. It's too much fun to launch hard out of every corner and stoplight.

I had a 2012 Connie for about 6000 miles. First set of tires gone about 4000, 2nd set was about 1/2 gone when I sold it. Launch mode was awesome and addictive, but for commuting, I just couldn't get used to the ride position and wife just wouldn't ride on after the first couple of trips.

Now that the Wing is back together after the suspension refresh, I have had a chance to ride both a little bit. Wing feels big now, but it's ok, it's supposed to be. Not sure how the two of these will end up sharing the stable together in the end, but for now, they seem to be getting along ok. Haven't noticed one or the other having an attitude, so all seems peaceful at this point.

Keeping them at the correct Pressure every time you ride will help - However Riding Hard and fast will wear them out faster - That's just the price of Fun

New set of Pilot Road 4's installd yesterday (GT on front, regular on rear, it was what the dealer had in stock). Put 184 hard miles on it today, had a great time. Went to a 55 aspect instead of 50 (stock) amazing the difference in corner entry pressure. This set should get me through winter as the rough weather is coming. Loving this bike, it's a keeper.
