  • Mounting Alpine yourself?

Am going over to the Darkside.. How diffecult is it to mount the Alpine run flat yourself? Have spare rear wheel

  • #2
I mount my own tires, using a No-Mar tire changer without any problems...but I would not even try it without a tire changer, the side walls on any run flat are very stiff.

Yep them sides are like a bear Rail does them but he uses good lube and I think he heat up the tire to make it softer so it can slip right onto the rim easier.

I have never tried a run-flat (and probably won't) but I struggle with a non run-flat. Good luck.

Put it in the sun for a few hours and then fit it. Makes it easier when its warmed up.

I mount my own with spoons and lots of lube. It's pretty easy to put the tire on. I have a more difficult time getting the tire off the rim. Particularly the last bead.

I take the wheel to the tire shop. $10 to put the new tire on. I had taken off the motorcycle tire before I took it in.

I've watched the pros struggle with mounting a couple of these Alpin tires...naah, for the price, let 'em have the fun of mounting them!
