        An article from '94 is good from a historical perspective, but many of those actual oils have changed formulation in the two decades since that was published.

                        I see this didn't end well for the original poster...but I'll add a bit of to the discussion...

                        How many "oil related" failures has their been on the previous generation of GL1800 motorcycle *directly* influenced by oil?

                        I'm gonna guess a really, really low number. It might approach zero for all I know, but let's consider there's a REMOTE chance of it happening. Anybody know what oil was used in that bike that failed? How about frequency of oil change? Any other history that could be taken into account?


                        Crickets...


                        So, the only *substantial* difference is the DCT on those bikes that have them. My 'link' I gave in my first post in this thread (post #4) might be a point of focused reading on the topic. Since there's not been many (any?) that have taken the time and effort to do an Used Oil Analysis (UOA) on a DCT equipped Goldwing **and shared the results** in a Goldwing forum, it's really that much of a guessing game.
