  • GL1800 Goldwing Trikers ALS Ice Bucket "Invite."

    Recently I was challenged by a couple of good friends to participate in, and take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Having had many opportunities to participate in events, gatherings, and other activities that ALL amount to doing something good for someone less fortunate, I was ready to to go. And many of you know Wheels, thus I had to really make a "splash." I invite you to take a look, if you wish (please note that I am not twisting your arm).

    I'm sure that no one with this organization would have ever dreamed that it would take on such a sense of excitement, competition, and good old fashion FUN, with the end result being that many will benefit from something as simple as pouring a bucket of ice water over your head. What a great sense of accomplishment and how "refreshing" to see all the good that is coming out of this.

    So Wheels, what's up with the post? Well, glad you asked. I "INVITE" (not challenge) my fellow Trikers who are members here and those that "visit" to give thought to doing something that is fun, and will do good for others. If you are so inclined, post up your video.

              A local group organized the Cold Water Jump In this spring, right after the ice melted off the lakes.
              They had the challenge and donated money raised to a local charity.

                  If nothing else the ice-bucket challenge has brought ALS research to the public. If you watch the different people take the challenge you will see young people, old people, people of all races, rich people, middle class people and poor people all brought together. Even if you don't support the idea of the challenge it seems to bring about a bond across this great country and gives one the chance to have something to SMILE about in these troubling times. So come on trikers dump that ice water and laugh at yourselves. My wife, Becky has this terrible gene in her family and in the last 5 years she has lost an Aunt and 3 cousins,if just one persons life could be saved how great would that be. Whether you donate or not lets keep the awareness alive. I challenge all here to just for one short moment in your lives take the ice-bucket over your head and then sit back and laugh at yourselves. Thanks Charley

                    Charley, growing up is optional, growing old isn't.... I think you might just be too old to grow up ;-}

                        Even got the fire department involved. They had more fun than anyone I suspect. All of it does bring awareness to that which is good in life. The hope and charity to other people.

                        When folks see a donation bucket they will remember things like this and with a smile toss in a buck or two. (Thumbs Up!!!)

                            Johnny, please, I beg you. Try to apply the carpenter's rule, with your math calculations. You know, the one that says "measure twice, cut once!"

                            It was so good to see you and your lovely bride again and look forward to our next gathering.
