I just saw the new GoPro Hero 4 on their website. Looks like I might have to get a new one.

The marketing demo video in 4K HD looks real nice doesn't it! Does make you want to run out and get one as soon as they are available in a couple of weeks

How come my videos never look as good as the demo?

I have one of the original GoPro's.
Mine, the batteries would not last long enough to be of much use on the bike, and the image quality on the early ones was not that great.
Has the battery life improved on them? I know the image quality is much better now.
I don't know that I would use one much on the bike, but I do have some other uses for a couple of them.

I think there are two reasons. First off unless those little cameras have really good image stabilization, you need a really stable mounting and that is not so easy on a bike.
Second, If I were to get another, I would incorporate some sort of hood onto the mount to keep stray light from effecting the video. I would bet that you would see a noticeable improvement in video quality with that addition.

My GoPro has such a wide angle on the lens, I am not sure could have a hood more than maybe 1/4 of an inch deep

Here's what you're looking at. The new Hero 4 Silver is nothing more than a Hero 3+ Black with an integrated LCD back. If you have the 3+ Black and LCD back, already, you already have the Hero 4 Silver. In fact, you have better resolution on the Hero 3+ Black with the 40K15 setting. The new Hero 4 Silver maxes out at 1080P. The Four Black has three higher resolutions and a faster processor.

Here's my opinion so you know it's worth nothing.
Ask yourself if you will ever shoot above 1080P. I have a Hero 3+ Black. Have never shot above 1080. Even at that resolution a wide screen HD TV will look amazing. The super HD files are gargantuan. In order to do anything with them, you will need an equally capable computer with a high end processor and a ton of RAM. Most of us render our videos to be maximized for YouTube or Vimeo so you lose all that picture quality when you squish the video. No need for anything higher unless you're a pro.

Won't be long before you can get the high end Hero 3's at a bargain. I would wait and get one of those. Battery life on the Hero 3 Blacks was much better than the earlier models. I get two hours routinely. There's a third party company called Wasabi Power that makes a great integrated battery pack.

And to the question about "How come my videos never look as good as the demo?"...
It's because all those demos are super HD rendered at the highest settings probably not using the GoPro Studio program.
