  • Cb troubles

Ok guys this is my first problem I've had with my 03 goldwing. I hope someone has some ideas. I have a gl2way cb on the bike. It's been working great. Til last week. Went to go on a ride the cb didn't want to work. It came on and powered up with no errors. Would not receive or tx. When I would key the mike it would say tx but all they heard was a squeal. Ride for an hour or two and stop to eat. Got on bike and it started working. We ride another hour and stop at DQ and when we got back on bike it quit again. So I get home and start messing with it and got it to work. Was working every time I checked up all week. Tonight I go to ride it and it won't work again. Then I remembered all week when I would check it I was turning the key to the acc. Location instead of the run position . I have determined that when I turn to acc it works fine. But in the run position when I start bike it comes on but it will not receive or output. Very strange. I was starting to think maybe the switch. But it's getting power and with no errors. A little background. The only thing I have done to the bike between it working and starting the problems was putting hid lights on it. I also added the ec switch to only have the HID's fire after the bike fires.

Ok anyone have any ideas where to start looking?

Pull it out, send it to Pete. Other than fuses, loose wires, antenna un plugged, antenna broke. Send it back to Pete, and let them check it out.

My next move is to remove the switch for the lights and see if that effects the operation of the CB.

I'm curious Rick who is Pete you talk about?

Thanks Rick. That will be my first move after I pull the switch off the HID lights.

Make sure you don't have it on MP3, I had one that would hang between MP3 and CD options, I would unplug the unit in the trunk for a few minutes and it would work perfect. Just once in a great while, I would toggle back and forth between the options and it would hang up. But worst case scenario, Bike MP3 will rectify your problem. They are great to work with. Pete is the owner and he goes by Pedro66 on the "other" board.

Well guys got back into town and I'm beginning to think it's the radio. I have figured out if I unplug the radio after the bike is running it will start working again. I will be getting ahold of those guys to trouble shoot the problem. Thanks for the link Rick.

That's exactly what it seems like it's doing Rick. It seems if I unplug the power it will reset and then works fine. But that's only if I have the bike already running. I will be calling tomorrow to see if there is a fix.
