  • Dash Light Signal Indicator

I have recently developed an irritating little problem. I have a 2014 GL1800 Honda Goldwing, non airbag with navi. I have added the LED signal light bulbs, Muth mirrors and the electronic flasher unit to my wing. Only when the motorcycle is running and I activate the signal light and either cancel the signal manually, or allow it to stop automatically does the dash light indicator stay on. I can remove it by moving the handlebar signal switch slightly but I shouldn't have to do that.

If I have missed something, or can fix it easily, I would prefer to do that myself than taking it back to the dealer for warantee work.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I read that, read it again and I am still confused. Are you saying the dash indicators will not go out unless you manually kill the signal or what? Or they keep on flashing and will not cancel unless you manually do so.

Just a guess in the dark, check the connections at the mirrors, if not making good contact you would get erratic operation and dash indicator lights.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The signals flash and when the signal cancels or I manually stop signal, the dashboard signal arrow still appears green. The signals stop flashing, but the dash light arrow stays on (green) until I move the handlebar switch slightly. I removed the Muth signal mirrors from the circuit to see if that was the culprit, but it still does the same thing.

Chuck, I thought I read one time that the turn signal flashing was tied into to the speedometer and that if you were not moving, the turn signals would not cancel. Are you saying your turn signals will shut off with the bike setting still? Maybe the older bikes are different...I dunno.

Now the light bulb is shining Lol! So you turn on the signals and they flash and work fine, but by manual or automatic while riding they shut off and stop flashing however the indicator light still stays lit. Not flashing but solid light. (do the corresponding signals stay on also or just the dash light)

At the moment I suspect the specialty LED flasher unit, I would call them and ask them if this is a characteristic of the thing if defective. You can also reinstall the original flasher and it should work, only flash very fast, but if it shuts off completely that would indicate the LED flasher is messed up. Do not think it is the bikes cancel unit as problems with that generally cause you to have no signals at all.

We need an LED guru, but I suspect the flasher unit.

Now whoa Kit, if the corresponding signals stay on, it is the little green cancel plug in the steering head, most likely not making contact.
