  • Bike was running, now won't start... Daamn gots to be Mo' carefule

    The Winter of my discontent,
First off let me say that the little "T-shaped" fuse on the right side of my 1996 GL 1500 Aspencade battery is fried. Now at first the bike was starting, the auxillary lights were working, but after a few times running the bike, they stopped working. I checked the battery to make sure it was good and it is. Now it won't start, or turn over. And the only thing lighting up is the time.

    help!

I'd start by replacing the fuse.

Then check the battery connections and maybe check the battery with a voltmeter.

Detach the aux lights from the system, replace fuse and repeat.

Reply with results - and good luck!

This is exactly where I would start.
I am not a mechanic by any means, but I had a friend that had a GL1500 years ago when I had my 93.
He had many problems with the electrical system after he added auxiliary lights.
Mine was bone stock and did not have any problems.
If memory serves me correctly, my friends problem was that the lights were somehow overloading the electrical system.
            I had to edit this.
I just remembered he had not soldered the wires at first.
            He just twisted and taped.
This was a big part of his problem.
He ended up removing some lights and soldering the rest.

You may not like the truth but that don't change it!

There has to be a constant flow of Tools on a bus out there?.
One gets tired and gets off, another two jump on the band wagon.(Fine entertainment at its best)
