  • I've got me a Rocky Tree!

And I am just itching to put it on. Tree looks great! Welding looks good as well as the powder coating. Got a set of Progressive mono tubes ready to go and Rocky is trading me my new Alls Balls tapered bearings. I had bought some already and he was kind enought to press a greased one on the tree for me and supplied the other all greased and ready to go.. One less thing I will have to fool with.

I got a steering head nut wrench from Fleabay for 30 bucks and I believe all else if on hand except for some fork oil. Probably not going to be able to make it by Honda tomorrow ( gotta work) to get some so does anyone know where else I might be able to find some? Big Box store, auto parts etc.? Hoping to do this Sunday so I would hate to be shut down over that. My local Harley dealer has Sunday hours. Wonder if theirs would be ok if it gets down to that. I have been trying to get by the Honda dealer for the last two weeks in anticipation of this but it just has not worked out. Guess I should have just ordered some.

I will keep y'all posted on my progress and might be dropping by with some questions so stay tuned. And Yes, I do have a service manual.

I have both the Rocky tree and the Progressive PMT's installed on mine for the last 15K miles. I'm really happy with the ride.
I'm sure you'll have the same results.
I'll leave comments on the Harley fork oil to others with experience, but if it is similar weight I'll bet it would work.

Word is that the only change in the front end of the 2012's that everyone says rides so much better is a stiffened Lower tree. My understanding is that the factory one flexes and causes issues with cornering and turns. One of my chief complaints about this Goldwing is it is so piggish in parking lots and pulling in and out of traffic. Seems it wants to oversteer itself and the reinforced tree eliminates that. That's my understanding and why I bought it anyway. Maybe someone that is running one now can illuminate that further for you. If your bike is a 12' or newer it probably wont do anything for you.

          thanks.

I have 7,000 miles on a '13 F6B... my first GL bike... and so far I can't find much to complain about, hence my curiosity.

The fork oil is covered. A local friend is picking some up for me in the morning. Way cool of him to do that for me.

Even on the 2012 and newer the Rocky Tree makes a HUGE difference. Not as much as a pre-2012, but still a very noticeable difference. If you make no other change to your bike, a reinforced lower tree will make a big difference. The lower tree makes turning input immediate. Takes the wallow out of long turns, and makes low speed maneuvers, and going over driveway aprons very precise. The lower tree on the 2012 and later is slightly improved, but not anywhere near what the Rocky tree does for you.

Thanks for that info about the 12 and ups. All the points of improvement you touched on are what I am looking for.
