  • Upgraded a few things on my 05 GL1800

Over the last few months I replaced some of the stock items on my Silver 05 with some up grades and some things to personalize my bike mine.

I installed Heli-Bars, Traxxon Mega-Monty (triple trees, brace , adjustable shocks and rear shock), Wind-bender windshield, headlight modulator, brake light modulator, black powder coated wheels, fog lights and painted some items black.

Very nice! This is why I like this forum. I don't have your vision for how a bike will look after a modification. But I can see it here!

Since you have done these mods to your suspension and the handlebars, how do you like the ride and fit? The bars interest me.

530ktm - I have to say it is like a different or maybe the way a new bike should be. The heli-bars allow me to move them to a position that eliminates the pain I had in my shoulder blades after just a few hours. I made another adjustment this morning on the Heli-bars and I think I have them were they will stay. My arms ar in a natural relaxed position. I think that Race-Tech or Progressive would also fix the stock suspension issues as well but I chose Traxxon.

Papa smurf2 - It handles great. I haven't spent much time in the North Georgia mountains but am planning a trip to WV in October. The bike feels more responsive but has totally eliminated the harshness I felt before. The rough sections of road I had to avoid before I can navigate without feeling like I am getting hit with a board while trying to stop it with my arms extended (if that makes sense).

Latest Modification - I have been running a Michelin Alpin RF for the last 15k and knew that the speedometer was off so installed a HealTech speedohealer this morning and the speedo is spot on now.

Don't have Heli Bars on my wing, don't need them on it. But I did on my ST1300 and I like them! I bet you really like your wing now!

Nice write-up, Thanks, I am not much for upgrading my bikes, I generally "buy um & ride um" however on some of the lighter bikes I have found a benefit in the use of a fork brace, I have read conflicting reports about the use on the "Wing" I am thinking about giving one a try, what (if you don't mind) is your opinion. Thanks
