Is there a secret to getting the windshield down easy? After I set it to highest setting it's a challenge to get it lowered?

I have a '14 also, I have found that if you stand in front of the bike and take the screen up as far as you can then it will be easier to get it back down in.
Its almost as if there is a detent you have to clear to get it back down.

Usually it just takes some serious upward torque and then drop down all the way to bottom setrting. Then you slowly bring it back up to where you want it.. I was playing around with one in the showroom floor last week waiting for them to ring up my new joe rocket jacket

The way the ratchet mechanism works, it does not release to go all the way down until you raise up past the highest position.

I wondered about that when mine was at the top and then wouldn't go down till I pulled up a bit higher.

If you raise it all the way up it will then drop down to what ever level you want. With the bagger windshield, mine is a litte sticky moving it up and down. Although I use it on the lowest, and will replace the original when I take a long trip.

My V-Stream is a little sticky as well. Thicker acrylic than OEM.

Got it today and installed. This one from Amazon but, made by Slipstreamer. 33" tall, high enough for me to sit comfortably behind it without my whole head above it, as in OEM windshield.
