  • Heli Bars

OK so who has the Heli bars on their GL1800? $800 plus instillation is a large investment.
    1. Do you like them?
    2. Are they worth the investment?
    3. Did you pay someone else to install them or do it yourself?

I want them so bad!!!! I spent $2000 on the Traxxion full Monty, $500 on a custom seat, $1000s on chrome, $300ish on mick o pegs and most recently...... $500 on getting my wheels painted yellow to match my bike..... And I don't regret any of those purchases. Why am I having such a hard time justifying this expense??

One must consider the substantial cost of the bars. There is about 4 hours needed to install the bars and bleed the clutch and brake reservoirs .

Mine are two tone, just like my Wing.

I haven't tried Helibars, but I did have a Texcellent bar on my 05 and I could feel the difference in stiffness with just that one thing, so the Hellibars would have to make a huge difference, I would think.

I've never seen one like that. Pretty cool idea being able to flip it up.
I agree to with not having things mounted to the bars.

Funny how this thread went from Heli bars to painted wheels to a GPS bracket...

                          Enjoy the ride.

I have a set of Heli Bars in the mail somewhere. Will soon be installing them. The reason I finally bit the bullet and bought them is the rake on the Trike puts the bars at a downward angle even with risers. I did try to make a different riser but could not get enough up angle and still clear the meter panel and ignition bracket.

Now if I had a camera person, I could make a video of it all, as long as you laugh when the socket falls into the black hole and I have to go buy another one. Lol!

I suspect I would not be as good as Cruiseman, his videos are quite good. I would be more like Fred and use my feet. Will see how the heated grip thing works out.

Almost have mine installed, got my powder coated front wheel, put that on, Heli Bars were on the front step. Tackled that for about three hours, almost done. Yep impressed with the quality and the way you can adjust them.

Instructions are quite good, not at all hard, just takes time. The rake on the Trike threw the bars at a down angle even with risers installed, these things are at least two inches higher than stock bars plus you can adjust them to any angle you wish.

I do think I am going to like these, in a hard curve the bars will be high enough for a direct push pull, less effort as you will not be pushing down but have a straight angle up high enough to work much better.

Finish them up tomorrow, think while I am at it, will change the air filter too.

All done. Heated grips still work, new air filter, new fluids, ready for another 50K, Love the bars, you can really wheel that Trike now. Bars are up where you have a straight out push and pull, not on a down angle.

Ya know that air filter is a pain in the kister..................Lol!! I highly recommend 50K change intervals, I think I will change it next time in the year of 2020.

Kit - inquiring minds need to know. Did you check for leaks before you took it out for a ride? Oh wait.... No soldering involved. Back to the original subject..... They look good, but bit to pricey for MOI. Take care.
