  • Windshield vent broke

The vent in my windshield broke: it will not stay in the up position. Anyone have an idea how to fix this, short of a paperclip and a bandaid??

Considering your other post about the fogged windshield and now a broken vent, maybe it's just time for a new windshield.
There are usually lots of used shields and vents for on Ebay.
I even have a stock one that I might be willing to let go if you are anywhere near the Austin Texas area. I think that shipping it would be too expensive to be worth it.

Did you lose the ball out of the lever mechanism?

Might try a BB if the ball bearing is gone. Or go to hardware store to see if they have a larger"BB"???

A ball?? a BB? Hmmm. Ok, so maybe thats why it flops open (and I'm tired of using a binder clip to keep it closed) So, how do you get the vent out of the windshield to stick a BB in that little flipper/lever deal??

Yes, just buy a new windshield. The vent works ok but on the whole your better off with out it. With vent open it usually acts like a bug funnel anyway. I usually install a screen mesh in the vent to keep them out, but i only use my factory shield in the now cold weather so bugs are not an issue. You can replace the vent unit however, it is not hard or hugely expensive. Just order a new vent if you are wanting to keep your current shield.
