  • Another Brake Recall

Looks like the recall Honda had on the brakes didn't fix the problem.

Use our VIN lookup tool to check for recalls on your car, or search by make and model. Also, get recall information on car seats, tires and equipment.

What I don't understand...If..."root cause has not been determined" and it is continuing to investigate.

Then why are they not checking the 13,and 14 models??? Nothing changed as far as I know between 12 & 13,14 Brakes

          Any Idea's??

So the original recall didn't fix the problem and they don't know what the problem really is.

Hmmm....I guess I'm glad I never took my GW in for the first recalll....now I can do both at once....

I witnessed a rear brake lock up by an experienced rider who is a member hear while he was in a lean around a corner. I was glad he wore a lot of protective gear. This occurred last Pres Day. He rode the GW home although it was totaled later I think....

read the whole thing on 2 different publications, both stated the recall was for all gl1800's made between 2001-2012,they also say that it involves 126,000 bikes, that doesn't seem like that many bikes for 12 years, love to see some sales stats on other touring brands, just sayin'.

If you look at the full document it has vin ranges. They sold more than 125,000 bikes over the years. Also the list is not in chronological order

I wonder how many bikes that had the initial recall done were actually done.
I took mine by a dealer and checked in at the service desk. Told them that I was there for the brake recall. He asked me if I knew my mileage, so I told him and then went into the show room to look around. Came back out signed the paperwork and left.
Sometime later, I was on the Honda link web site and noticed that it was still active. Turned out that they filed the recall on my old 2010 that had burned. Makes me wonder if they ever even looked at my bike.
So I wonder if the new recall is because some bikes that supposedly passed, were never really inspected?

I have it. I was going to attach it but it's too long. I used Chrome to get it. Sometimes the browser makes a difference.

                            Thanks for the link Richard.

Had mine done during the first recall and it passed, I've never had any trouble that I know of with the brakes.

Yellow bird I would find another dealer. There has been an article about this in our local newspaper. It would be interesting to know if different Level bikes may be involved also ABS vs Non ABS models. For those that cannot get the link , I got it by Googling it.

Yep, totaled. Luckily no serious injuries. I'm almost positive that was because of this failure that Honda still hasn't figured out what causes it.

But yet Honda doesn't want recognize the cold low speed stumble as a safety issue.
