  • GL1800 Handle Bar Cluster Clutch/Brake Switches (Print off the List)

Up until a friend alerted me to this yesterday. I had no idea Honda is screwing with us GL1800 owners.

He told me he had a cruise switch go out.

He said he couldn't find them on Partszilla.

So he felt he had to order the $250 Cluster that came with the two clutch switches.
Had he called me-I would of given him the part number!!.

So I went to work. I have these switches in stock. (I have the part numbers.)

So I started with Partszilla,to see if I entered the correct part numbers, Would they show up as available?
    They all did.
Cyclemax our board sponsor also carries them (Only- they have a letter in front of the Honda part number?)

I have no idea if Honda is doing this as a mistake? (Programmer)

Or are they trying to milk more money out of us.
for a switch (s) that do wear out before the cluster does.

    What I found odd.
When I tried to find the switches on a few different parts Fische's.
I could no longer find them as I had in the past?. (They were removed)

So I advise you to Print off the List below,
and keep it in your service manual.
(Wouldn't hurt to keep a copy in the bike in case you are traveling, and some kid on a parts counter tells you_ Ahhh I can't find any switch (s) (You have to buy the whole cluster)

The Clutch switches (2) are on the left cluster.
The Brake/stop switch is the only one on the Right Cluster.

Thanks Rocky, good info. Maybe once the individual switches are sold out Honda will only sell the cluster????
Just printed them out and given the low cost of these switches it might be a good idea to buy them now.

What ticks me off after I heard this yesterday.

I just received an order from Partszilla.

Had I know this last week I'd of ordered a 1/2 dozen of each.

hey Rocky, speaking of switches, do you know if the Hazard flasher switch is available by itself, I'm being told I have to get the whole cluster for that left side, I have a 2006.

Hi Rocky, that is how small independent distriburors make millions....by buying inventory from large companies...and buying excess parts for pennies on the dollar and selling them back to these same companies at very high prices..in due to long system lifecycless..make huge profits..including verification/authentication testing or "value added " Services to weed out counterfeit parts.

I find it very odd that Honda stopped listing the switches in their parts fiches??

This is why I posted this thread. (A heads up)

Get em before they are gone.

Rocky I ordered all 3 over a week ago when you and I talked about it. I received the clutch switch right away but as of today (3/5) no-go on the other 2 switches and I've received a message saying that they are delayed.
                Edit: Ordered mine from Partszilla

RoadRat. You are aware that Partszilla now has two warehouses. Sacramento & the east coast.

Not making excuses for them, just saying they may not have all that you ordered in the same warehouse to ship.
Happens to my order sometimes, depending on how many items I order at any given time.

Hazard switch has never been available.

You can use a fog light switch (Identical)

The plate with the wires going into the switch gets swapped from old to new.
The black button gets swapped out as well.

                  Here is the switch.

The black plate is what you transfer along with the face cap.

What causes these poorly designed switches to go bad.
Is a tiny "Z" shaped wire that locks/unlocks the switch. (when its pushed in/out)

I placed a big order with Zilla 10 days ago.

Normally I get a tracking number a couple days later if I order during the week.

I got an update that 1 Cruise clutch is being held up by Honda.

So let me make this again Clear!!!

Rocky,I ordered mine right after I pm'd you. All three switches are now sitting in my parts box. According to PZ, I got the last clutch switch they had in stock.
They were hoping to get more.

That was the only part holding up my order. (it has its own tracking number)

This is why I'm trying to help others by posting this thread now.

                                Get em before you can't!!!

Buying a whole cluster is just plain insane!!
