  • Front tires

Would you guys share what your preference of front tire would be? I have a friend who is new to the wing and his current ride is 1500. Thanks.

I ride on the Dark Side and I'm on my 3rd Battlax BT-45. It works for me. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

I run a Bridgestone front tire on my 1800. Current tire has little over 19k miles on it. The wear bars are getting close

This is my first wing, and I had some tire from China on it front and rear when I bought it , sorry I do not recall the brand, but when it came time to replace, I put E3s front and rear. . . . . LOVE them so far, nice smooth ride, not too noisy, and great traction wet and dry. Just my 2cents.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. . . .

I'm on my 2nd set of E3's on my GL1500 and am satisfied with the performance and durability. I'm not a very aggressive rider, ride solo and got about 15k out of my first set.

I am on my second set of Kenda Kruz tires. 1st set got 16000+ miles out of them. Great tire for the price.

I also run the Battlax BT-45 rear tire on the front. The main reason for the rear tire is that it has a deeper tread than regular front tires and in theory will last longer. It works just fine for me and I use 2oz of dynabeads and between 44-46 psi. Also, I run it backwards. I honestly dont know if it is true but I was told that rear tires are designed with the forces of acceleration in mind. When accelerating, there is a lot more force placed on the rear wheel. On front wheels, most of the force is placed on the tires when braking. So in order to accomplish this when rear tire is mounted on front, mount it backwards. Made sense to me and has worked out fine. No issues on wet pavement. Btw, I also run the Austone CT on the rear...

The BT45 2 ozs of beads at 42-44 psi so far is the best tire i have used i have over 10,000 miles on mine and it still looks great and rides nice, Other are getting way 25,000 plus miles out of this tire, Stones 702 or 706s work well also

I just changed my front tire (Bridgestone G709) with 21.5K; about the same as the previous two on my current 08. Virtually no cupping. If it had been a Dunlop with as many miles it wouldn't have rolled nearly as smooth as mine still did. Dunlops and 1800's simply don't work well together. I had three bad experiences on my 03 with E3's - never more than 15K - maybe after E3's are finally redesigned they'll be better.

In fact, the only reason I changed mine earlier this week was this weekend's ~1700 mile ride into the belly of the northeastern beast. Otherwise I would have put at least another thousand on it without hesitation.
