  • Oil Change not 5 minute job anymore

On my previous two 1800(2005-2010) the oil change took 5 minutes. Warm the bike up. Drain the oil drain plug, replace the oil filter & put 3.9 US qts in. On the side or center stand.Easy Peasy.

The new bike (2018)is a 30-45 minute job. Drain the first plug then the next then the third(spill some oil)then the filter(flush) Need cap oil wrench, then take the clutch filter cover off, -pull out the filter & spring, Replace all new filters. Put in 4.9 qts. (DCT)The bike seems lower to the ground with less space to work on center stand. Putting the clutch filter back on required me to lean the bike to the right to so I could clearly see the two holes for the bolts. I put a cardboard box on the floor in case I spilled a little(I did). A lift may be in my future. Positive note when refilling you don't have the goofy chrome plastic cover that blows off

I didn't time it, but I think it was only 15 minutes. I do have a table lift and all of my tools within 4' of that.

There's no rush. Do it right and enjoy the bike

Mine has always taken me two beers to change the oil n filter. Any faster than that and I'm rushing the job.

          Is it light beer?

I'm about 200 miles from my first change. It sounds like a blast.

          I would say
          2001-2017---1-2 beers
          2018 + --- 3-4 beers

On the table lift it was easy. All three drain plugs out at once, main oil filter all draining into the same oil pan. remove the dct filter and replace then put everything back together. 7.5 minutes! unless drinking beer of course.

Yes, it’s easily a 1/2 hr job without a lift! Wear disposable gloves . . . you will get oil all over the place! Not fun!

Changed mine twice, messy job, not easy like the older wings. Crush washers are 12mm.

You mean that you changed the washers?
