  • BBQ Thread

One of the best parts of a long road trip (IMO) is stopping for great BBQ along the way. So, let's use this thread to share our favorite BBQ restaurants across the country. Please include the city and state as well as the name of the joint. A website would also be nice.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

    Hutchin's BBQ - McKinney, Texas - http://www.hutchinsbbq.net/
    Carl's Perfect Pig - White Bluff, TN - http://carlsperfectpig.com/

Oh gosh. If there is anywhere better I have yet to find it.
In fact, it looks like I'm going to have to make a pilgrimage real soon.

They don't have a web page. Don't confuse it with that place in Houston.

Big T's BBQ and Smokehouse in Calgary, Alberta is the best BBQ I've found over the years. Whenever we visit, we always stop in for an excellent feed!

I never think of Canada when I think of BBQ. Interesting. I know that Canada has really stepped up the culinary game lately.

BBQ is one of the VERY FEW things that can cause me to deviate from a very well planned trip. Especially if it is the east Caroline style not the ketchupy stuff that some areas try and pass of as BBQ. Remember BBQ started off as one of the few ways to make meat last before refridgeration.. You took meat that was on verge of spoiling and cooked it to death and seasoned it heavily until it was edible. Luckily it has been refined just a bit since the old days

I like most all of the Bar B Que I have eaten. The best is the ones you don't have to put any sauce on. You don't find those places too often. If they serve it already drowned in sauce it ain't good

Some people argue for tomato based BBQ. Others argue for NC vinegar based BBQ sauce. Cowling Bar-B-Q just outside Waverly, VA is the best mix of both! Every time I go near DC, I make a point of swinging by Cowling's and having a meal. When I can, I buy a gallon of their sauce. Give it a try if you're ever in the area. https://goo.gl/maps/1I8uH

Famous Dave's is a chain, so they can be found in a lot of places. It is pretty good BBQ though.

Great although different BBQ can be found all over. I recommend Buz an Neds in Richmond, VA and Pierces just outside Williamsburg, VA. And those are just a couple close by in VA. The list can be quite large.
