  • Helmet color

Hey everyone! Ok so another question- i have an 08 gl1800 in titanium. I am in the market for a new helmet for me and the wifey. I have been looking at modular and full face. i am having a hard time finding the correct color. I want the helmets to match the bike. Grey or silver is mainly what i keep finding. Is there anyone who has found a titanium colored helmet or is that even possible? I thought about getting the helmet i really want and then taking it to my buddy (owns a graphics company) and letting him print off a wrap that matches the bike. He can take the paint codes and match it pretty close. Is this my only choice?
We do wear black and white jackets so i could always go black and white helmets and have my buddy make some accent wraps and put them on the helmet. Then my imagination is the limit.
Or maybe i am overthinking this and being silly wanting to match stuff. What has everyone else done?

    Thanks for any feedback!

We have a red bike and silver helmets, no graphics on them. What is added to a helmet helps to make it yours. Get one that is one color and what you want on it is making it yours.

I own a silver ARAI and a silver SHOEI helmet. My Goldwing is pearl medium blue. My previous Goldwing was pearl yellow. Color is less important than quality and fit.

The correct way to purchase a helmet is first identify the shape of your head and determine which helmet makers manufacture a helmet that fits your head. All helmets do not fit all heads.

Once you've determined what helmets fit and the proper size choose the highest quality helmets that fit your budget. The helmet that fits you may not/probably won't fit your wife. Last of all choose the color or have your friend create a wrap for each.

I would not buy a helmet if I had not tried it on to see how it fits.
They all fit a bit different and the sizes vary a little.
Sort out the make and model and type first.
Colour is the last item for consideration.

I agree totally with Kiwi on the priorities for selecting a helmet. It is far more important to have one that fits correctly and comfortably than the color. I prefer White helmets as they go with anything and are more visible to other drivers than so other colors. HyViz is probably even better!

I always buy white helmets mostly Arai and I have "chicken-feathers with a dream-catcher" painted on them. I just like the look.

Thanks for the input! I have been trying on helmets. Seems like i have put on a thousand different ones! I do have it narrowed down to a couple of manufacturers but thats when i ran into the color issue. There is no way that you can just point and click and get a proper fitting helmet. I was just curious about the color aspect.
I think what i plan on doing is going with silver and then get my buddy to design some titanium accents. Maybe even do something in black and white for the back. Nice winter/spring project!

We ride our canary yellow wing with "Hi-Vis" green/yellow modulars and jackets. Wife don't like the fit of her helmet so, she wears her pink full face HJC. Me on the other hand, wear the modular during "warmer months" here in Arizona and my full face black Arai during our"winter" here. As mentioned previously, helmet should fit properly first and foremost, functionality next than color as last choice. We clash like couple of clowns at a political party...well, on the second thought, we'll blend right in...LOL!!! Believe it or not, some morons in vehicles STILL don't see us with this git-up...

This website provides accurate information which I consider very valuable to selecting a helmet:

Looking for a helmet in a particular shape? See our motorcycle helmet reviews, sorted by internal head shape! Now you can easily find the ideal helmet for you.

Agree, I once wrote an article FOR webbikeworldd, believe it or not.

They do a lot of comparison and informative articles on anything ftom bikes to safety gears and beyond.

I used their info/articles on bluetooth comparison when I was shopping for a unit and for modular helmets.

I would not recommend getting a flat black color. I have one and it picks up hideous amounts of fingerprints and dust. Good luck on your decision.

I remember reading somewhere (I think on that other board) a thread that compared the temperatures inside a white helmet and a black helmet. Both had been (intentionally) left in the sun on a picnic table for a period of time. It didn't take long for the internal temp of the black helmet to get significantly higher than the internal temp of the white helmet.

Moral of the story: Light colored helmets are cooler than dark ones.

Use a color & grafix you like. As for the Yellow color bike and Day Glo jacket... a drunk driver pulled out in front of me on a clear sunny day. Brite colors do not help if the driver is drunk .

Color doesn't matter if they aren't paying attention, period.
