  • Stored for the Winter

Put the Wing away for the Winter today. Took it for a ride to run the stabilizer thru the system, put it on the center stand, took the battery out, cleaned it and put the half cover on in the garage. Going to be a long Winter folks, but I am already planning on a couple of tours for next season. I hate putting it away, but it's time in Northern MI. Enjoy your winter.

Putting something away for the winter just does not compute in my head. I feel for you guys that have to go through this every year. The only thing I give up is my dirt bike and that is for the summer months because it is just too hot to ride for the most part. Sometimes it is too hot to ride the Wing but not very often.

I can't imagine putting the bike away for winter. While it gets cold here in Oklahoma we can usually count on several days each month to ride.

Same here in Dallas. In a good year, there's probably only 20 days where I can't ride. Usually ice or heavy rain.

Mines put away too. Could probably ride cause its still dry but north of the 49th its just getting too cold to bother. No fun dressing up like a michelin man. Been there done it. You guys that get to drive year round are lucky bastards.

I hate to hear that Fred. When you finally get down to Tennessee, that should lengthen your riding season.

I went for a nice ride with Pat (Bassnman) today up into NY State. Just a little under 200 miles. Had a nice day.

We're planning another ride for Saturday. Going to grab all the riding days possible here in Jersey before I have to put my bike away until Spring.

Hey Jim, yeah it was time the weather in Nov. in Northern MI is never good. Even the warmer days are rainy, not much sun going on. My plan is still to move to TN whenever I can sell the house. Enjoy all the riding you can.

I thought this was going to be a thread about mesh jackets. Although today would be a perfect day to be using it. 87 here today.

I would go stark mad on not being able to ride "most of the year" round, we do have a few days that is just plain to miserable, ice, snow to get out, but for the most part, we can go year round here in central Oklahoma.

Yeah Rick it is a long five months of slim to no riding around here. Looking forward to seeing you in Sept. for the Rockies ride.

Fred - Did the same thing yesterday with mine. Hope we get a chance or two to get together when the white stuff is gone. Glad to hear about all of you who can ride year round. Interesting though that when the temps where you live is around 105 or so you too don't ride. You warm weather folks can ride more than we in the Frozen North, but there are - I suspect - more than a few days it just doesn't work. To everyone ride safe and enjoy.

Hey Bob, I'm doing the TN lunch run for sure in may. Hope you and Frank and whoever else can make the run. Let's plan on it.

A mesh jacket makes an excellent layer of insulation when covered with a wind proof outer jacket. I'll ride until the roads get blasted with salt.

Here in Packer country mine gets stored every year about this time give or take a couple weeks depending on the weather and first ride is usually late March early April after the first good rain washes all the salt away. I usually get stuff that requires a little down time done during that time if possible. There are guys that ride almost all year, but I don't like riding in colder temps when frost and ice become issues.
