We sort of considered the General Discussion area to be primarily for GL1800 owners. But, you raise a fair question.

Maybe some other will weigh in on this. Do you think we need a separate forum for GL1800 Owners?

We have just added 2 GL1800 folders, one for 1st Gen and one for 2nd Gen. As we mentioned, this is a "pre-launch", so we are learning as we go!

Thank you. Glad to see a new forum come to life.

I think that's a great idea, especially since Honda will no doubt come out with more Goldwings in the future.

Hope to see you there. Maybe we "the forum members" can arrange a meet-up at Wing Ding in Huntsville.

I'll be honest. I've always wondered why there needs to be any segregation at all. I can kind of see why you do it, but I don't feel like it's necessary.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that when I log on, the first thing I do is hit the "New Topics" button. If something looks interesting, I read it. Doesn't make any difference whether it's in the 1800, 1500, or whichever folder.

Tell me what the idea behind separate folder is. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking. I'm probably missing something.

I tend to agree with MidMoWing. When I first setup the forum I figured 90% of the traffic would be in General Discussions, especially for those with GL1800s. I think it is more of a comfort level. People come from other forums that have always done it that way, so they expect to see the same thing here. We are going to break with tradition on some of the specialty forums (Darksiders, etc.) and use some of the new technology available for that.

Any thoughts about adding a section for the GL1200's (and older...)?

Been on some sites that have a bazilion folders for every little thing and it gets a little difficult to navigate. With that said, owners ( specifically new owners) are always looking for info pertaining to their model. So I was glad to see an F6B folder.

Perhaps a Valk folder. I know they already have a few sites in place, that I was a part of in past during my time on Valks. But new Valk is more closely related to an 1800 Wing then previous Valk. It can't hurt
                  .
Same goes for Vintage Wings (pre-1500)

If you build it, they will come. Just my .02

For what it's worth, I tend to agree with this one. On ... another forum ... I saw they segregated 2012+. As a 2012 owner, that meant I ended up checking both folders every time. I didn't see enough unique "pre-12" and "post-12" to have made it worthwhile. Maybe if users are just reminded from time to time to specify the year model when it's specific to a particular model.

We may end up merging the 2 GL1800 folders into a single folder. We can also add a Topic Prefix option so that members can specify if the post applies to the Gen 1 or Gen 2 versions. We do this already in the Technical forum.
