  • AAA Plus RV Versus GWRRA's Rescue Plus

For those who've actually had occasion to use them, besides up-front cost, what's the key difference between AAA Plus RV and Rescue Plus? I know AAA Plus RV is the higher level (and costs more that AAA Standard) but it's the most comparable with Rescue Plus for bike breakdowns. Also, AAA+RV costs a lot more, but the difference can be made up in hotel savings and I believe there's also an advantage over the lower priced one when pulling a trailer (like I do).

Soooo, on the benefit side, which of the two carries the best bang for the buck when you're broken down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Also, I know there's another one (AMA, AMM, AMT, AMC or something like that). Include it if you want but only in comparison to these two (so as not to hijack the thread).

Editted to add that I'm not emotionally bonded to either one; just trying to get the word out for others. I bought them both prior to my US Four Corner Ride (just in case) and renewed each for my ride earlier this year. I'll probably drop one of them at next renewal. Then again, there's the Montrose ride next year..... Hmmmm.

I had AAA RV plus for 5 years. The biggest issue with them is they are broken up into several regions across the US with each region having some differences in their rules on towing.. When I joined I was told they would tow my bike and trailer when I broke down. At my last renewal I asked them the same question and they asked me about my trailer. If I had a trailer that would sleep persons it would be covered but if it was for cargo it wouldnt be. Now if I joined AAA RV plus on the west coast my cargo trailer would be covered. With each region having some difference in rules I would hate to find out what other discrepancies they would have on bike breakdowns and towing.

Not to be off topic, but it is something to consider. I have AMA coverage. It covers all vehicles and drivers in my house. My daughter hit a tree in front of the house in the car. It damaged the radiator and thus the car was un-drivable. I called AMA to get the car towed to the shop. They said that they only cover mechanical breakdown. They would not tow due damage from an accident. I had to pay out of pocket to get the vehicle towed. I would like to know if GWRRA Rescue Plus would cover towing after an accident, but as of yet do not have an answer.
