  • Windshield Cleaning

I wanted to share my experience. We took a nice long ride a week ago and had many bugs, including a bird (the actual bird), mess up my windshield. I purchased some Novus 1 at the Harley dealer a few weeks before we left but then found some Plexus at another place and picked up a can of that, and yes it is expensive. I ended up taking the Plexus with us and I must say that this stuff works great. I am not sure if it works any better than the Novus but I prefer the spray application of the Plexus. I had been using Lemon Pledge up till now but I believe that is retired at this point moving forward. The Novus comes in 3 versions and the 2 and 3 version are supposedly able to help eliminate any scratches that may be in the windshield.

I too have both the Plexus and the Novus 1,2 and 3. Have had to use the 2 and 3 to get out scratches out ot the plexiglas and worked great. I am a firm believer in Plexus. Agree that it is expensive but I believe well worth it. I always keep a can in my saddlebag and even use it on the fairing to remove bugs when traveling.

Can anyone tell me why Plexus is so expensive?

When on a trip I carry a spray bottle of a 50-50 mixture of water and peroxide to use on my windscreen. It's the best that I have found to dissolve the bugs very fast. At the end of the day I may follow up with some other type of spray polish.

Can't answer that but it is mighty fine on plastic.

I wish I knew, maybe because it smells good. To me though, it is the best thing I have ever used for cleaning up the remains and road grime and a little can lasts a long time which makes it worth it.

I have used Novus for years. Works great. Have to look for some Plexus when I am out and about and compare.

I have used Plexus and Novus over the years...but more recently have been using the Honda Spray Polish. Not because it says Honda on the can, but because it is readily available, and easy to buy. I carry a can in every bike. But here is a good tip that a friend of mine uses. He carries a older washcloth....fully wetted down...in a quart sized freezer zip-lock bag. Once at a motel at the end of the days ride, he throws that baggie into the motel room microwave...heats the washcloth up for about 1 minute, then removes it from the bag....lays it on the windshield...and the heated washcloth helps to dissolve all the dead bugs, and makes cleaning the windshield so much easier. After a quick wipe down with the heated washcloth, then he uses a can of "whatever" is the choice of the month, and thoroughly cleans his windshield, mirrors, lights, etc.

I was having an issue with no water beading on my new F4, so called them via the phone # here on the Forum. He explained simply I had "picked up" road grime (diesel fuel, gas, oil..you name it) and I should buy as close to possible, 100% rubbing alcohol. It will bring your F4 back to new. They were "right on". I faithfully use their F4 spray every gas stop. What a windshield))
