  • riding with CB on??

When I ride with the local group, we monitor CB channel 4. When riding alone, I usually don't listen to the CB. Do you guys ride with the CB on? If so, what channel do you guys monitor?

I only have it on when I'm riding with a group.. if I'm riding alone, Like going to Colorado from Arizona, I'll ride on 19 since some truckers are still on there.

Channel 1 unless someone is hogging it. Most of the group I ride with use 1 as well.

40 when I ride with someone. As it seems to work better. Probably due to SWR. Alone it is off.

Channel 1 when riding with our group, turned off when riding alone. If I encounter some type of traffic issue I'll turn it on to ch 19 to see what the truckers are advising.

Usually we keep it on channel 1. It's not uncommon to leave it on for days on end (even alone), except to be reminded on a Sunday morning when some guy with a powerful base radio takes it over in the SE.

Ch 1 or 3 when riding with our friends.
I also use Ch 19 on the interstates.

So I think I'll start monitoring channel 1 and 19. You never know, maybe one day I'll met a group of you on channel 1.

When I ride alone I never have my CB on. When we ride in a group or on trips I leave my CB on. We usually pick a high channel that no one uses. It works for me. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

Same here. Our Chapter uses 1 for group rides. I'll listen to 19 for traffic info... is it just me or does it seem to be a trucker requirement to use the f word in every sentence and speak with a PRONOUNCED Southern drawl?

                      Just wondering!

Chanel 5 for one club, chanel 1 for another. Otherwise, OFF.....but makes sense to go to 19 to see what the truckers are "complaining about" OR what might be happening with traffic issues.

On my recent trip to Georgia I kept mine on 19 and would switch it on occasionally. Usually heard nothing more than trucker trash talk but it did also not only alert me of a major shutdown on I-10, also provided me with a clean rout around it.

Ch 2 if riding with E-2, but off when alone.

Our group uses channel 14 as it seems to have little traffic around here. I leave it on most of the time and rarely hear anything. If I do, I just turn up the squelch. When traveling I'll monitor 19 sometimes. I've gotten great intel on weather, traffic conditions & speed traps.

As most will answer, it's off when alone...most of the time. It's a bit different here in the desert, as we're much closer to those south of the border who think 1kw of power on CB isn't enough... ...and they'll claim to be "Number uno!", so Ch. 1 is where they'll take residence.

Quiet channel is the one that'll be chosen - or Ch. 1 if in a known group of others who prefer to use Ch. 1
