  • Show Chrome vs Kuryakyn Trunk/Saddle Bag Lights

    Stupid question, if I may...

Between Show Chrome and Kuryakyn, which is the better trunk/saddle bag molding lights? I've been thinking about getting some to help with night time visibility and wondering which offers the better product. I was following an 1800 yesterday that had the Kurys and they didn't seem very bright, but it was daytime and may have made a difference.

    Thanks!

SBT check out winglites.com, they will put them in your current saddlebag trim. Ted is very easy to work with and fast turn around time. These are also the brightest lights I have seen. Ray

I have saddlebag chrome trim with lights, they were there when I purchased the bike used. I have no idea which brand they are, but I like them.

I have the showchrome because liked the look better. Wish I had know about winglights because I would have preferred body color to chrome (I am not much of a lover of chrome).

I have the Showchrome lights also i have had very bad luck with Kuryakyn chrome even tho they have exchange my arm rest two times now. I have had two sets of the kury arm rest they start pitting after 6 or 7 months tried waxing them i dry them after every rain no luck. Showchrome just seems to hold up better.

You could paint them to match. I am not a chrome lover either and have painted the few Kury parts that I have installed on my bikes. Usually before they are even mounted on the bike for the first time.

I have some of the Kuryakyn chrome peeling. I don't think I can find any receipt since I have had various Kuryakyn parts for over three years (although the peeling started within the first year). My question is how easy is it to get an exchange for a given Kuryakyn part? I could go see them at a Daytona Bike Week event.

One year warranty at best . . . without a receipt, good luck with that! I have the Kury lights & I am very happy with the look, price, and brightness!

That is trick! I think that's the way I'll go - didn't want all that chrome on the back- they seem to have the answer...

I didn't like the BBP/Show Chrome look and a friend had repeated light sections go out. But he did get them replaced for free without and issue from BBP/SC.

I have the Kuryakny lights on trunk/bags. I was puzzled as to why they would make the trunk light Run/Brake lights and the bags just Run lights.

I wasn't having that on my bike, But understood the "Why" Kury did it the way they did.

It involved drilling holes for the wiring and soldering. which many owners aren't allow to use tools that can harm themselves..lol

I wired my trunk/bag lights as running/brake lights top/bottom ,and took it a step further by adding a switch for the run light portion. (No sense to have run lights on all the time in the daylight).

They are all Brake lights with the brakes applied, and at night when switched on, They are both run/brake lights.

EC makes a harness to convert a spoiler light to run/brake. $5 per harness and two are needed, one for each bag OEM light to connect too.

I repainted my bike. I wet sanded the chrome and color matched the pieces to match the two toned parts on the rest of the bike.

So you have more options to think about if you are handy with and are allowed to play with tools without giving yourself an oweeii??.. lol
