  • Neat Cheap Gloves!

Went on a 330 mile ride with my wife the other day. Forgot my fingerless gloves and missed them quickly. Rather than going back home we stopped and Walmart and I bought a pair of Golds Gym weight lifter fingerless glove for around 8 bucks.
They are fantastic for riding! They have a padded palm and feel good on the throttle.
Now I can impress people when I carry my Golds Gym weight lifter gloves around and say I'm fixing to go pump some iron! Ha!
    Neat gloves for the price!

    Good tip!

I have a pair of black Olympia leather gloves (with fingertips) that I have been wearing for at least 3 years. They have become rather stiff after riding through several rainstorms and drying in the sun. Every now and then I hit them with some Doc's Black dye and leather conditioner. I just can't seem to get rid of them.

That's what my wife wears for her riding gloves. She has a Purple pair that she got from a large sporting goods chain. Not sure which one as any will do.

I commend you on your find and the fact that they work for you. Many times the best solution can be found at a cheaper deal than motorcycle specific equipment.

I have never been a fan of fingerless gloves. I really don't see the point to wearing them.

Does anyone know why black gloves have to run black dye all over your hand when they get wet? That drove me to look for a better glove which I found.

I do recommend the Aerostitch Elkskin Ropers. I thought this glove would be a spring and fall glove when the wife gave them to me Christmas several years ago. Well since then they have been worn in the heat as well as the cold, well down in the 40's. Yes they have been rain soaked repeatedly and never dried stiff. Over the years they have faded from the sun but that really does not effect their fit and comfort. I am now looking at the possibility of getting a pair with the new touchscreen ability for use with the GPS.

I have the Olympia deer-skin gloves. I like them because they are soft, and more durable than leather. Mine have gotten wet many times, and they are still soft. I also haven't had a problem with the dye running, but they are quite faded after a few years of riding. As for the touchscreen ability, there's a product that is just a little finger condom(for lack of better description) with a magnet at the end of the fingertip. I think you can buy those separately, instead of needing an entirely new set of gloves.

My last pair of expensive riding gloves didn't last a year. The same for previous pairs so I went with mechanics gloves this time too. So fare they have outlasted any of the motorcycle specific gloves I have had and cost a whole lot less!

I never have gone for the fingerless gloves. I have seen some pretty painful injuries that would have been lessened or even prevented with full gloves.
I drove two trucks for a number of years in my youth and it kind of changed the way I look at a lot of safety equipment.
