  • Anyone has a spare center stand they don't need.

Had a little excitement today. Never got a scratch on the bike in Mexico, but today on I5 about 30 minutes south of Patterson CA, I am assuming a part of steel fell off or out of a highway tractor.

I Could not tell which truck as it was very busy and the part was doing the ping pong thing between car and tires. I thought I missed most of it, but it still caught the wheel, ripped the front tire, and bent the heck out of the centre stand. See picture of how far the center stand lever has been pushed back.

BTW anyone have a spare centre stand that want to get rid of? I was going to order a new one when I get home, but before I do I might as well ask.

Got a new Dunlop Elite 3 at Stockton Honda, who where good enough to get me in and out over the lunch hour.
Now I am enjoying dinner at the Palomino room in Red Bluff where I have a hotel room for the night.

Post this on the trike forum.
Center stands come off when triked.
Someone should have one laying around.

You are lucky that did not go up through the case. This kind of stuff is always bothersome when on the highway. How is the weather in Red Bluff, I was up there a couple months ago and it was 113.

Rick if you don't find one before hand....there are many of them for sale on E-bay, for about $ 100.00 USD, as they are taken off to make trikes. Most of us with an F6B standard bought them this way, and saved a lot of cash.

If you are in Red Bluff, where will you be spending tomorrow night...hint, hint...Olympia, Wa. (there is a free dinner in it for you.)

Oops, I see from the other thread that you are staying in Beaverton, visiting that Nike friend. Have a great ride up to Port Angeles, and across to the island.

I think I might have one but it is dark out now and won't be able to check until tomorrow afternoon. If I can find it you can have it for shipping.

Consider the ride-off center stand... a little more expensive but seems pretty darn convenient. Also since it's shorter it's esaier to egt the bike up on it.

Does the ride off stand lift the rear tire off the ground? I am assuming not, as the tire would need to be in contract to "ride off"
I really like have the rear tire off the ground so I can spin it with my foot and check it out for nails, screws, Tears, etc..
I see there is a used chrome ride-off for sale on old forum, however, I just domt think there are for me, but thanks for idea.

I don't have one but I'm considering getting one. My understanding matches yours, that the rear tire contacts the ground... however I can't say what pressure. I'd also like the ability to spin it to also get to the air stem.

Rick, if you are hanging out in the Beaverton, Oregon area today, visiting with "that" guy from Nike...go over to Bob's Beaverton Honda-Yamaha...technically in Tigard, OR., and see if they have a take-off center stand from making a trike. They are a huge dealership, so ask the guys in the service dept. if they have one...and if not, go ask an OLD person in the parts dept, as the young kids don't know what a center stand is....very few on their sporty bikes (ha ha)

See, on your way north, you will be riding within 12 miles of my house...then take a left onto Highway 101 at exit # 104, from I-5, to go towards Port Angeles, and you won't even stop to have a cup-a-joe.

If you head south(Orange County) I've got one. Wife just replaced hers with a ride-off.

Who needs a kick stand! Just do like Slow Joe and Kit Carson and lay it down on the ground until you are ready to ride it again.

Yo Rick. if'n you go with a ride-off stand?.

To get the rear tire off the ground just place a 1/2 or 3/4 14x14 sheet of plywood under the stand feet and you're good to go.

And if I find out you came through san diego and didn't give me a ring- I'm kicking your ass Eh!!

I looked all over the place and couldn't locate the center stand. Sorry to have gotten your hopes up and then let you down. I will keep looking.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and comments, still looking so all efforts are very much appreciated.

No I did not drive though San Diego. From Tucson, I drove to Beaumont CA for an overnight.
Then I got up at 5am to miss the morning rush along highways 10, 210 to I5,

Well you can imagine how well that went, still more traffic at between 5 am in 6am through Ontario, Pasadena, and Santa Clarita, then the entire home country of Canada.
Not very comfortable with lane splitting with the fat Honda Girl, but I did tuck behind a CHP Motorcop and that was good for passing 2 million cars.

Tonight I am in Portland OR, checking out a new RoadKing that by buddy just picked up. Nice Harley if you are into Harleys.
