  • TPMS Swap/changing wheels?

I just bought a brand new rear tire and wheel off a 2012. I also have a 2012. If I sync the new wheel to the TPMS, ride it and wear out the tire, can I switch back to the original wheel and will it be in sync? Both have been in sync, are they assigned a serial number or ID of some sort or will the bike just think they are both the same wheel? Thanks

I believe you will have to resync the wheels, it can only "remember" one of each, front and rear at a time.

You will have to re-register the new TPMS each time you change wheels.

Well that sucks. Lol! More reason to go with an aftermarket system. Buy a three wheel Trike system and then you could switch rear wheels back and forth to your suit all conditions.

Thanks you all for the responses! Always good information on this new forum and it continues. Guess I will buy the gizmo to sync the wheels. I will be ahead by just not throwing away tires with maybe 5 to 6K miles left just so I can take a long trip.... Thanks again

Hey Kit...my local Honda shop only charges $80.00 an hour & only has to keep the bike 10 days for service...would what they would charge to re-register the new TPMS ?

Cheapest place I found was tool warehouse dot net. Got to my door for $94.05. Leave in cart for a day and they should email you a 5% discount code.

As far as I know the aftermarket TPMS's don't need any special tools to register a new sensor so that would not be such a problem.
I do wonder though, what a trike system does when It doesn't see the third wheel? Does the warning light stay on then?
