This is a question for those who have had your VIN checked for the Brake Recall. What I am curious about is the wings on the list vs those that are not, also whether you have ABS or not . My Wing is a 2012 Level 1 and it is on the list whereas another I have checked was a 2012 Level 4 it is not on the list. I have also checked a 2012 Level 3 and it is not on the list.

I have an '03 non-ABS. I brought it in under the first "Recall". I called by dealership he the guy in service told me to put the bike on the center stand, spin the back tire with considerable force and observe if the back tire drags. If so make an appointment to have them look at it or if uncertain make an appointment any way. But the "Recall" does say, "Note: Motorcycles that were remedied under recall 11V-567 for rear brake drag must have their motorcycles remedied again under this campaign." Who's on first?"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)

Took my '07 in for tire install. How it was explained to me, the dealer ( this particular dealer) will test EVERY GL1800 that comes in. But the test is very involved. There is a bench test to perform while back is on stand. Testing for drag and brakes dragging. Then there is a 15 road test. Bike must be ridden by dealer I guess to verify there is NO wheel drag. Then, once back in shop perform the bench test again. Whew!
My bike passed but it was a 3-4 hour ordeal just for bike to be tested. Incidentally, the initial recall my bike failed. My brakes were destroyed. Since I had complained to dealer about the brakes beforehand, they had to cover. Lucky for them the recall was in effect. I got new rotors, pads, and front master cylinder.

My local dealer said, the bikes that are failing are the ones that have had there brakes bled. He said, they really need to be flushed with allot of brake fluid to avoid the problem.Iron Station, NC

The build date on my Level 1 is 2/12. But on the list of VIN's where mine is listed is for build dates from 2/10/2011 to 9/18/2011.

I'm confused as well as you should be? My bike is showing no signs of any brake drag and I have also just done a brake -bleed and flush of the system as well - If your on the recall you will get notice and proceed from that point. They will at some point get it resolved - I know that won't ease your mind but are you having any brake problems?

Thanks for your response, as of yet I have no indication of any brake drag. Just waiting for notification from Honda. I will be at Southern Powersports tomorrow so I will talk to the service manager, he always has been helpful in the past.

I went to the garage and put the Wing on the center stand. Tried spinning the back tire but could not get enough force to determine drag other than what is normally felt. So I started the bike and with the back wheel in the air put it in 1st gear. I did not hear any dragging. And when I put the bike back into neutral and the back tire slowed to a stop I did not hear any dragging. Anyone got another way of testing?"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)
