I have one that I wear only to work in the warm weather. It is a 2 mile ride to work and no highways. I have been down before and the helmet took on damage where the half helmet would not cover. Modular Shoei helmets are what the wife and wear when riding any other time.Mike n Rhonda

Yes....I realize it doesn't offer the protection of a fullface....but I ride a motorcycle....so like other bike riders, apparently I am willing to accept some level of risk.

This past week some 20 plus Harley riders were going through town, they all had helmets and bright yellow vests . What is the world coming to? Harley riders with helmets...........:p:confused::confused:Must have been something in the water?
A half helmet or even no helmet is enjoyable around town. It is sure a a pain to put that helmet on, take it off, put it on, if you are running errands or have a few stops to make around town.
For longer trips though a helmet does much more than protect your noggin, heat and cold, the boiling sun, and cold rain. A helmet such as modular or full face does protect you from the elements.
A popular option for short rides, not so good for longer trips as a good modular helmet does hold the weather at bay, from wind noise to the boiling sun a good helmet has much to offer other than noggin protection.
Especially in the rain and the cold. Several times in a long cross country ride with others we have stopped somewhere so a rider can buy a good helmet, when one runs into a cold rain, it is not long before that rider is about frozen. With a good helmet you can be warm and ride all day in comfort. When rain is running down your neck and back, tis not a lot of fun.

I used to wear these things for years when I rode my Harleys and at the end of a long ride my ears would be ringing from the wind and exhaust. Now I have permanent ringing and would not wear them anymore unless I stuffed my ears with protection. I like the full surrounding and security with my Neotec along with the music.Dave - High up in Arizona - Black Metallic 2019 DCT

I use a half helmet a lot mainly to work and around town there lots of times i ride with out a helmet. But on the long trips or riding on the slabs i use my full face just depends on the weather conditions. Have been working very hard to use my helmets when ever i ride.2018 DCT non tour, Pearl Stallion Brown, Double Darksider #856, Live To Ride, Love my Wing, IBA Member# 63744 Yellowbird Alias Coppertone

If a person wants to wear a 1/2...3/4...or no helmet that's up to them...I only wear a full face helmet
does not matter if it is in town riding 1/4 mile or 3 miles. I agree with those that say they are... uncomfortable
when it's really hot outside...I have seen people with no arms, legs, but never with no head
If you fall 1/4 of a mile from your home...or 2500 miles what's the difference

I've been in a half helmet since moving to "cruisers" from sport bikes ... Almost 15 years now. Currently running a Scorpion EXO. Despite the safety reasons to go full faced -- I feel disconnected from the bike with a full faced helmet. Almost isolated. Ride safe fellas

I have never used them, though I see the majority of HD riders I ride with use them. I have only used modular for over 20 years. The half helmet don't look to offer enough protection for the areas below the helmet. If someone wants to wear it, that is their decision, and who am I to tell them they are wrong."I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials."
