  • "Today's Posts" Button Vs "Recent" or "New Posts" Button.

I wonder if there's an option to modify this feature. I'm sure I'm not the only one that doesn't or can't log on every single day. I'd like to be able to easily access any new posts I haven't read since my last log on, be it yesterday or last week. Most other forums I belong to have a "recent posts" or "new posts" button that allows this.

Just something to throw out there.

I second this FEATURE request. It seems that when I click on todays posts and I read the ones I want, there's no way to "mark as read", so if I come back 8 hours later, and click "Todays posts" I end up seeing the same ones I thought I cleared by clicking on Mark Channels Read.

Is there a Hidden "NEW POSTS" button in the designer Chris? As you know.. I know VBulletin V4.x but 5 was a complete overhaul.

I did some searching and it looks like VBulletin is aware of this issue judging by this post by VB support:

New Topics is currently rather buggy and will eventually give you poor results.

For the time being, I recommend Today's Posts, which works correctly.

You will get unread posts highlighted in bold so it does identify which posts are unread.

Today's Posts by default only shows to guests...you can edit the permissions in Site Builder > Navigation Bar
What I then do is effectively turn New Topics off, by making it only visible to banned users.
You could delete it but then when it gets fixed you won't have the URL.

Looks Like VBulletin might have fixed it, here's a screenshot of their page on VBulletin.com showing the mark forums read and new posts buttons.

I think their site is a couple of versions ahead of what they give us. So, whatever you see there, will be here soon.

Great.. Not *****ing.. just trying to provide info on what I found. Now I'm thinking about upgrading mine just so I can learn V5.
