Understanding that we are currently "pre-launch", I was wondering if there is any consideration being given to adding a shoutbox/chatbox? Although it's a bit cumbersome, it was neat on occasion to hook up live with other users.

I am pretty sure that is a 3rd party add-on module for a vBulletin 4.1.x site. To my knowledge, one has not been developed yet for this newer 5.1.x version we are using. But, it is always something to consider in the future!GOLDWING AND F6B MAINTENANCE VIDEOS
