  • groups are a cluster f__k for me

I am having a terrible time with the groups section. I've tried default style and vbulliten and its still a jumbled up mess. So bad I not sure I can explain it. The only way I can get in is if I have a message that someone posted on a thread that I started. When I try to read others it comes up with a zillion individual posts and I can't see or get into the thread

Hmmm. what browser are you using? Let me see if I can duplicate the issue.

I tried to access "Florida" on my Nokia 928, it said I needed to log in. I could read "todays posts" fine.

VB (Vbuilletin) isnt mobile friendly as such, hence tapatalk application, what is referred to as responsive design (lay terms fits on different size screens well) isnt the case, bit annoying as I use to enjoy the site but the mobile unfriendliness is driving me crazy, time to unplug and hit the road :D

Unfortunately, Tapatalk does not work with the version of vBulletin that we are currently using. However, a LOT of vb customers are complaining about this and the support staff are pushing for Tapatalk support.

I really want this site to be the best but I gotta tell ya that I am disappointed in the software. The bugs, glitches and lack of features really make it poor competition to other forums.

That is disappointing to hear since we are using the latest and "greatest" version of vBulletin. I know that there is a learning curve with the new format that some are uncomfortable with. As for the bugs and glitches, I agree, but am seeing improvements with each new release. There are some cool things we can do with this version that are not possible with vBulletin 4.1.x, but I am holding off introducing any more features until every feels comfortable with what we currently have.

But, I am glad you are giving me this feedback.

I'll keep at it, hopefully it's just a learning curve. My two biggest complaints are no auto subscribe and the site being SLOW. A close third is "todays posts" not being in chronological order. I mean this as constructive criticism, something to pass on or inform us how. I know you've put in a lot of work and we appreciate it.

I understand how some people having some "glitches" would be frustrating but as I recall, it is not the bells and whistles that make a forum a winner but rather the people that are the forum.
The people and the sponsors here bring value to me personally. I learn so much from the others on this board and there seems to be a lot less BS thrown around that ruins the experience.
Thanks for the hard work on this forum Cruiseman.

CAC, don't feel like the lone stranger. My smart phone can't display the groups either. I just wait until I am home on the desktop to read this forum.

Much appreciated. You are correct, as long as we have good people, we can always enhance, replace and upgrade technology.

I can not see how a forum like this would be readable on a phone. A tablet size device seems the smallest to be able to read & view .. oh well, my iPad was stolen, so I can not comment on it. LOL

I've only ever been involved with two forums, this one and the other one, and it has mostly been with my phone. I guess you get used to it.

I'm sure of it. I am fine now just knowing its a phone issue. No big deal for me.

Web sites on a phone have always seemed awkward to me. I had one of the first iPhones and being able to pull up a web page on the phone was quite a novelty, but when tablets became an affordable option, my phone went back to being primarily a phone. I still will check emails and I do have some weather apps that I like to use on the bike, but internet sites are for the iPad, laptop, or desktop, and this site works well enough on all three for me.

There are some cross-site scripting concerns with Tapatalk.

I am still waiting to see some type of an icon that shows me what threads I have posted in. For a quick example, going through the new members list I need to open all of them to see if I have posted in there. It would be nice to see something showing me that I have been involved with a particular thread.

I have submitted this as a feature request with vBulletin support. I even sent them the mock-up below to show a potential interface:
