  • Looping

Went looping today and rode 265 miles and never got more than 45 miles from home. Went to a local range this morning to shoot the guns. Plunked about 200 rounds in the .380, 38 and .22 pistols and about 50 in the 9mm carbine. Stopped back home to drop the guns and cruised to a state park for lunch at the lunch stand at the lake (with ice cream). Off to Gander Mountain to restock on ammo and targets then to a little roadhouse for steak and shrimp. Had an extra cup of coffee to wait out a rain shower the. Stopped at the ice cream stand on the way home for soft-serve. A great day of riding, in 80 degree sunny weather, got to shoot a bunch and ice cream twice in one day. What more could you ask for....

Sounds like a great day. What is the availability of .22 ammo in your area. Here in CA it's pretty much extinct and if you do find some you can't afford it. I'm afraid to shoot up what little I've got left.

What is the deal with the 22 ammo out here? Used to be you could buy bricks anywhere and now it is gone. I am with you, afraid to shoot any of my 223, 22 and the rest.

It's not 223 that's an issue. Because of the shortages of other ammos, manufacturers have all but stopped producing 22 rounds. In some areas, I've seen people buy a new 22 just to get an allotment of 22 ammo. Was in a box outfitter store in May and listened to a conversation between the clerk and a farmer who needed 22 rounds to put down his livestock. ( I honestly can't remember what he raised.) He had to buy a new rifle to get on the list for the next batch of 22 rounds inbound.

I live in the Fresno CA area and the last time I was in Big 5 the shelves were stocked with 38, 9mm, and 40 S&W. If you want to try your luck at getting some .22 ammo you must wait in line outside the store at least 1 hr. before they open on their delivery day and their is no guarantee that they even got .22 ammo in their delivery.
