This year will mark the 7th year of enjoying the good company of fellow Gold Wingers down at the Mid-Atlantic Mob’s (MAM) Lead Pencil Run (Oyster Festival). Over the years we have had a great time with many riders joining in on what has become a long standing (ok sitting for me), tradition of "where to go and have a blast before I put the bike away). Last year we once again had well over 40 in attendance who were from all over.
To say that this gathering is a Circus would be an understatement. Where else can you go and actually have a circus tent put up in 10 minutes and house the . . . . . . . . . . . ah . . . . . well, . . . . . attendees and keep everyone out of a little sprinkle.

Last year was made even more special when we had a surprise visit from the Jolly ole guy himself. Attendees were given the chance to “explain themselves” as to why many were on the naughty list. Of course the ladies made sure to butter the ole boy up. He arrived on the coolest sled I have ever seen. MAN does this guy have great tastes or what! There really has to be something with this beard thing and the ladies.

Once again, ensuring that a long standing Lead Pencil Tradition was upheld, we located and sacrificed yet another “Oyster Virgin,” at last years gathering. It was hard to believe that this one was not discovered sooner given that they have made all but one of the Lead Pencil Gatherings. Our very own Patti “Crocker” was thrown to the shells and as compared to others in the past, she too made sure to “not bring anything up” that might come back to haunt her as part of one of my “True Story” recaps. Well done to her!!

Another new MAM Family tradition and feature that was added last year will once again be on hand. Jays’s first victim . . . .ah, I mean volunteer was all excited to receive this Tattoo. I just don’t think the “anesthesia” had a chance to kick in yet, then again, maybe it had!! LOL

Each year we host this gathering at the Comfort Inn which is on the water. It really is a great set up and we have basically the run of the place. And, each year the "Boater Boys" send up the hill another in what has become a long line of "challengers" to the age old question of who can handle there "refreshments" better at the end of the day. The rough and tough Bikers or the wobbly legged sailor boys. Last year was no different as yet another marched up hill to take us on. He along with some of his supporting crew were loud and proud about how they had found just the right boater to finally take on us Bikers. They were sure that he would restore HONOR to the Fleet. I’ll let you decide just how well THAT worked out.

Of course aside from getting the two bushel of Oysters right off the dock at the hotel, there is, after all, the Oyster Festival which is held at the Fairgrounds on Saturday. It is a difficult ride to get to it . . . . all 8 miles of it, LOL, but once there, you can enjoy MORE Oysters anyway you can dream them up, along with all the fun of watching the national Oyster Shucking contest and a bunch of other fun things to do.
The event would not be complete without the time honored “SUPPERJETT SHOOTER.” Now this is not just ANY shooter I tell ya. It will and has taken the hair off the legs of those who have spilled it on themselves. Me, well, it’s best that I not report what happened, but it took three weeks for the rash to go away. If I told you what he uses and puts in these things you would run for your lives, but it is after all a tradition and I believe traditions are good to continue.

So I hope that some here might want to join in and share some great times, lots of laughs, and enjoy just a "few" Oysters with us.
