  • 4 Days to launch!

Only 4 days left until i head out. Figuring roughly 11500 miles total. Heading up to madawaska maine first this time,, get the hard corner done FIRST this time. Then doubling back towards key west Fl.. Then up to Jacksonville, for at least 18 hours to rest. Then set out for 50CC to san Diego, ca with a planned rest stop in Ft. stockton Texas.( 5 hours hopefully). Then to San diego Ca., punch the clock,, then down to San ysidro for my 3 rd corner. Then double back to Tucson arizona to meet up with about 290 other crazies to ride up to British Columbia ( finish 3 flags portion) Then hop over to Blaine Wash. final corner,, then head home.. Rear tire should be fine,,bridgestone drive guard... front tire stock and it has 2500 on it already.. planning on getting it replaced in Tucson. Changing my oil and filter this evening

                  Knite,
Is this your first LD ride with the CTX? I'd like to hear the differences between the two as related to LD touring.

I do not see in your post but I am curious how many days do you plan on taking to make this 11,500 mile adventure?

Well I attempted to do this in Sept on the wing.. I made key west jacksonville to san diego( 50 CC) then san ysidro ca. I then realized somethig was wrong with the front end I had trashed the brand new Avon front tire at4500 miles. It started raining mid cali, and never stopped all the way thru washington state to New York. I developed termnal diaper rash.. and had lost so much time due to roads under water. That I ran out of time at new york border at 12 days ... SO this time I am allowing a total of 17 days to do all 3 rides

I have a CTX1300 also and it is more comfortable to me than my wing.

I received an update from kniterider earlier today. He made the NE corner (Madawaska Maine) lunchtime Monday. Key West this morning (Thursday). He plans to make San Ysidro CA by Sunday night.

Well Folks I made it to san diego from jacksonville in 45 hours including a 5 hour nap in sorona texas. got in san diego about 2100 hours cali time.. ,,found out the local san diego PD is not 24/7 but got my gas receipt to stop the clock. Got back up a few hours later and rode down to Ocean beach got my pics getting sand and water and then down to san ysidro post office for the third corner of my usa 4 corners ride. Left lunch time and headed back to Tucson AZ to hook up with the 3 flags ride BUT at a food stop on Monday evening in El Cento Ca. discovered my stock front tire was cupping badly,, had it replaced with an E3 and an oil change done.. PICS as soon as I can figure out how to load them DAMN my ass is sore 6900 miles as of last night

Turns out that kniterider is not riding this mega event alone. I just met his riding partner...Rhonda...a lady from Indiana, and she has only been riding for 3 years. She is on her own bike...a 2007 HD Heritage Softtail. I can tell you....anyone with only 3 years riding experience...that attempts to do this mega ride...is taking on a big load. And then to do it on a bike designed to be a bar-hopper, that is remarkable. My hat is off to both these riders, as it is a great ride they are doing.
