  • Athens GA and back this weekend

One of the sons called from Colorado and asked if I'd be willing to ride over to Athens GA to pick up a collectors bottle of whiskey he had purchased online. He even said he'd pay for the gas.

Hmmm, let's see. 400 miles each way, non-interstate riding, chance to see a number of lakes and different (actual) terrain, someone else is paying for the gas, the wife wants to ride along, the weather's going to be good (Fall-like) and there's even a chance he'll pick up the hotel in 10-15 years (don't really care about that one)......hell yeah!!

Looks like it's going to be a great weekend!!

Ride Safe and enjoy the miles of smiles. Athens is a real pretty area.

I'm heading to Perry Georgia next week myself.
I'm going down for a photography job, but am planning on loading all of my gear into my trailer and taking the bike.

      Have a safe trip!

May be a little busy around Athens this weekend. GA plays Vanderbilt at 4 pm Saturday. Rooms also will most likely be at a premium.

Sounds like a good weekend, but does your son expect the bottle to be full?

Now that is a good question!

GA vs Vanderbilt. That explains having to get a room over in Elberton. LOL! On opening the bottle, I'm more of a scotch guy myself but I'm riding, which means no booze. I can't ride a straight line as it is.

Got up this morning in Elberton and it was 39 degrees. It warmed up to 44 by the time we pulled out. Let's just say the wife was not amused. Otherwise, great ride!
