  • Death valley weekend ride October 11 - 13

A buddy is taking his turn to put together a leisurely weekend ride to Death Valley, Friday October 11 to Sunday the 13th.
Detailed plans are still coming together. But we'll meet in the little town of Fillmore Calif. Hwy 126 in Ventura County, at McDonalds, 7:am.
We'll make our way to Hwy 395. Lunch at the Mt Whitney portal. Then on to Beatty NV. Staying at the Stagecoach or Motel 6 there.
Saturday is a day long tour. it's a surprise where we will be going.
Sunday riding home... however we plan on also getting some BBQ in Big Pine at the Copper Top sometime over the weekend.
Let me know if you would like to join in!

I'd love to, and if my bike isn't torn down, Jim and I might make it up there. If it is, Jim might be the only one that makes it up there.

Of the two, the motel 6 is the better place to stay. I've stayed at both. Enjoy your ride.

When the classiest place in town is a Motel 6, you know you've hit the big-time in accommodations.

Actually I have read that the 6 and the Stagecoach are owned by the same person. The Stagecoach has a Denny's and casino inside. I have yet to have a breakfast at the Stagecoach Denny's that did not want to evacuate a few hours later!!!! But were going for the ride. Not the questionable cuisene!

Big plans? Yeah...for such a little town. I mean, what he's done so far is pretty good, but looking for more.

Heading out in the morning tomorrow. Some starting here, some meeting us in Beatty.
This is almost an annual fall ride - gathering. We don't always go to or tour the same places this time of year.
Mix it up and find new roads. Have plenty here in the South West to explore.

I'll post any "From So. Calif." rides as they come together throughout the year. May be riding up to Canada next year.

I haven't heard anything from them, but they should all be there by now. I'll have my bike back together in about 30 minutes, only 10 hours too late.

What a great weekend! Had heavy winds and fires here closer to the coast. But out past Mojave and the entire weekend wind was no issue.
I remember one ride up Hwy 395 about 4 years ago we hit severe cross winds. Two semi's blew over along with a motorhome. That was a learning experience.
                However this time, nuttin honey!
It's a great time to visit the Death Valley area. Saturday morning it was 36 degrees and hung around the low 50's until noon. Electric jacket liners made that no issue.
We also rode up to the Mt. Whitney Portal and had a burger. All said and done a nice 1000 mike weekend excursion. We'll do it again.
