  • Who has owned and rode a ST1300?

I am liking the one I recently picked up! It will keep the local miles off a Wing and will be for one up when momma don't go!

I was loaned one for a few days. I liked the bike, really liked it. But it didn't fit my body in that I did not have enough room. My knees were almost resting on the bodywork even with the seat on the tallest setting. With my bashed and rapidly wearing out body I need a bike with a trail-bike riding position. So I ride my Wing and my run about Triumph Scrambler. If I could be happy on an ST I would have that as my main ride.

I have been looking at the ST, the Concours and FJR. From what I'm being told and through reading, my order of preference would put the ST1300 last and the FJR first. With that being said the only one I've actually ridden was the FJR. I've sat on a Concours and just read on the ST1300. Out of the 3 the Concours has the most power but is also the biggest. I've been told that the 1300 is a dog and that I would not like it...but I can't say for sure. What I can say is that one of the 3 will be my next purchase, but not as a replacement to the wing. If I was forced to buy one today without any more research it would be an FJR. THANKS FOR REPLANTING THAT SEED! LOL

Have not owned nor ridden one. I like the looks of them though.

Not trying to change your mind but as for me I really like the C-14. Lots of "Farkles" available, for me a super riding position and power that will truly knock your socks off. There seems to be no glitches in fuel delivery and is very manageable at low speeds. Was selected MOTY by a couple MC rags. There is a cult like following and I can see why. This is certainly not a sales pitch, merely my personal perspective since I own one. YMMV.

Nothing wrong with the FJR, just be careful of second gear. Other than that, they are running a tie in my book. I have rode them both. I just have to sway to the dependability of Honda!! Oh and the ST1300 will run right there with the FJR, the Yamaha will pull it a bit, but far from being a dog is the ST.

I have ridden the ST1300 a couple of times, great bike. Very quick and nimble.

Mine was not a dog, you did have to downshift to pass sometimes, if you want to really get around them. It was OK, nice to run around town in, nice to ride the twisties with, the seating and leg position was a killer on an all day trip though.

Sold it a month ago, got afraid I might push it too much, I am now supposed to have some sense, but when I would get on that thing, seems like speed did beckon and call. Lol!

Keep the rpm up, taint a dog. It does like rpm up there a bit.

I also installed a Heli Bar Riser kit on mine. It has me sitting in the neutral position now, like I sit on the Wing! I have a good friend who is a great upholster and seat guy, going to have him do some work on the seat to sit my butt level with the bike, then it will not want to take me towards the tank. So far I am in love with it.

I am on the fence about buying a 2018 GoldWing or a nicely farkled 2012-2017 GoldWing. Here's the background.

I've been riding over 25 years. I have considerable long distance riding experience...
