  • Tavor?

Anyone here every heard of them? Built in Israel for the Israel Military use. What a weapon, it is built in the Bulpup style. I have been shooting one for awhile now and this one has impressed me more than any weapon I have ever held and fired. I have recently went back into the hobby of shooting, shooting events and such. Shooting used to be one of my main hobby's for years. A lot has changed from the "old wheel" guns. Anyone else shoot competively?

I've not held one in my hands, but I like the looks of them. I had my mind set on eventually buying a Ruger CX4 Storm, until I held it and fired it (was very disappointed with the feel of it). I was back in "what will catch my eye" mode, when I saw the Tavor. It's currently got my interest, but after the disappointment of the Ruger, I'm going to have to shoot one before I get serious about shopping for one.

I just purchased a S&W M&P Shield. Had my mind set for a Kahr until I shot it, didn't care for it at all. Never shot a Tavor, but like you, I'm getting back into shooting after a long absence.

Oh, I shoot pretty regularly, but it's almost all on the same boring Glock 23. Once every few months, Groupon has an offer from the range I usually go to where you get a private lane, ammo, and a gun rental pretty cheap (I think it's $50 or so). I've taken them up on it a couple of times to try out some long guns, but haven't found one that meets the right combination of "I like the gun" and "I like the cost".

A lot of guys are carrying them for a back up gun. I have shot one, and enjoyed the feel of it. But I am Glock Addicted and have been for a long time LOL! . One of the guys that comes to shoot with us carries a M&P Shield in 40 caliber and have got to shoot it several times. I did recently pick up a Shield in the 380 BodyGuard, as it will fit in my glove box of my ST1300, I got it cheap and so far it has not had one hiccup.

Boring is good, on certain things. I really like my Glock. I take it to the range once a month or so, fire a couple boxes of ammo, take it home and break it down and clean it. It doesn't look "new" (it's funny how the black wears off as you use it), but it fires better than the day I bought it (for some reason, "it" has become more accurate, go figger).

Boring guns are a good thing.

                Hello Mr.Parsons,
Isn't the CX4 Storm a Beretta? I have a PX4 and I remember looking at the CX4 and the mags are interchangeable.
Good thing too about boring guns though, is no surprises, you always get what you are expecting.

Tavor, isn't that just a 22 cap gun? When are you gonna step up to something "man size"…

Have shot Rick's Tavor…it is very nice/soft shooting and with the Aimpoint it is dead on accurate!!

You need to get back over here so we can wear out these steel targets!!!

Yessir, I misspoke on it being a Ruger. The Baretta was what I was talking about. Looked like a great gun, but the "feel" just wasn't what I expected.

I've seen pictures of the Tavor, but never had the opportunity to handle one. It does look interesting though.

I like my Glocks too. It's nice to have a couple of handguns that are so reliable that they are boring.

Hi Rick figured that was first.

Too late already shot my toe off. Lol. They are OK carried in a rigid tyvek holster I suppose, where your thumb does not yank the trigger during excitement.

Sometimes I just stick a .45 in my belt before I crawl under a house in the inner city, one never knows what one will find when you exit back into the daylight, they might be liking your van tires better than you do. Wires, sticks, crawling, bumping into stuff, not wise to have a Glock in your belt. On the range or challenged to speed shooting, best there is, it is fast and sure.

Just not fond of one for a carry weapon, might lose a toe. Lol!

Nice weapon the Tavor. Easy to point and control. Pretty expensive though, and you can sure use up a lot of ammo. Do not have one, but have shot one. Do not think I would buy one, too many hobbies, motorcycles, shooting, fishing, chickens, honey bees, scuba diving, that is about it, cannot afford any more. Lol!

I've never tried a Tavor, it looks interesting.

I shoot trap and skeet leagues in the summer, .22 bulls-eye and combat handgun leagues in the winter. I still compete some with a 1911 colt, but S&W N frames are my favorite. You just can't beat a nice revolver.

AK's are like fine wine…appreciated by those with taste.

Rick…someone from the local news station saw us at the range. They contacted me
