  • Financial Support to Canadian Soldiers

It was reported on both CTV and BBC and their affiliated news agencies in both Canada and Britain that Canadians have once again opened their wallets to support the families of the two soldiers that where recently murdered in Ontario and Quebec by religious extremist.
As of last night over $705,000 has been donated to the families of both Warrant Officer Vincent, and Corp. Cirillo.
Of course these donations are above any survivours benefits.

Do you have any more details about this "religious extremist"? What religion, and what weapon did he use?

I think it's great that folks in Canada are supporting the family; Lord knows we in the US don't do nearly enough to support our defenders (and our President is "leading" the wrong way on that one); but if your going to troll with statements such as the one above, it seems would seem the proper thing to do for discussion would be to provide actual details.

There's only one religion I know of that has member across the globe engaging in this type of terrorism.

Why the hell a person would turn a simple thread written to show the financial support for a few Canadian soldiers, into a rightist, political rant about Obama and the U.S.is beyond me.

Funny, I was thinking much the same thing about why anyone would turn an act of kindness on the part of the Canadian people into a comment about religion in general. I don't really see how my simple question was really a "rant", but if you choose to take it that way, it's certainly your choice.

Out of curiosity, what sort of comments do you think he was looking for? I mean, "Excellent" doesn't really make for much of a "discussion", wouldn't you agree?

Not every statement that is written needs to be argued, challenged or debated.
Sometimes..... a simple "excellent" is all that is required.

It's a "discussion forum". Every post should be made with the expectation that there will likely be a response.

It's actually a desired state (except, of course, for those that somehow feel they are entitled to having their say with no response).

That of course would be the predictable "challenge".
No hparsons, not every post needs to turn into a debate with a winner and a loser.

That's almost laughable coming from you. It appears (from your posts) that trolling those that hold a different view than you is the primary reason you're here.

Even though you said you were leaving.

              I agree with HParsons.

The op deliberately turned this thread political in his original post with the unnecessary political judgement about "religious extremists" without identifying what religion or why he considered the perpetrators extremists.

It was an intentional cheap shot against members of organized religion and too politically correct/liberal to state the clear fact of what "religion" the perp belonged to. I believe even Canadian news articles identified the perp as a muslim.

It's always immediately obvious who the liberals are in any discussion even when they try to avoid expressing their views. Their goal is always to silence opinions they dislike.

I don't think Pearlblue is even from Canada. If he is, I wasn't aware of it.

Frankly, in this instance, I was agreeing with the actions of the Canadians. Compare the tragedy there, and the reaction to it among civilians, to what happened here in 2009. An Islamist terrorist shot up Fort Hood in the name of his "religion", and our President (and his administration) called it (and continues to call it) a case of workplace violence. Because of that, the victims and their families continue to miss out on the benefits due them.

As for the number of posts, that's the purpose of a discussion forum, to discuss things.

I knew the answers to the questions before I asked. I was hoping to entice him to own up. Guess it didn't work.

It is great that there is support for the Canadian servicemen who were murdered. Only wish that was the same here for our troops murdered by Islamic religious extremists.

How many people in Canada, 35,500,000?

It's OK to call those extremists what they are... Islamic extremists. Even the Canadian Prime Minister called it an act of terrorism. Our President could learn something here.
