Who knows. Studying nuclear is very elusive. I aced all the college level work and still didn't know crap about it. As a matter of fact, when I interviewed with a reputable nuclear research facility I told them I didn't feel as if I had a good grasp on it. They responded "Don't worry. No one else we hire knows anything about it either.".

As noted in the adjoining article the trick is generating the terahertz radiation that is the core of the reaction. Given the energy in numbers represented in the article maybe they have solved that problem.

It will be interesting to see how the physics world examines these findings. The next step in the theory is repeatability. Though the pictures look very simplistic. The last terahertz generator I saw was significantly more complex for just the generator. And it took hundreds of megajoules of energy to function. Again it looks to simplistic to me.

But don't go a look'n fur dat PHD afta me name.
