  • Difference between Texas and Chicago

In Texas, good guy shoots 4 bad guys. In Chicago, bad guy shoots 4 good guys.

Looks like you will run out of good guys pretty soon up there in Chicago.

Right, they have strict gun laws in Chicago, so bad guys can't legally own guns.

The reason for the thread was that a Texan by using his firearm stopped 4 bad guys. In Illinois, which recently acquired CCW, the political atmosphere is still so tainted toward any pro-active response, such as that of the Texan, that it is highly likely that it will occur in Illinois in the foreseeable future; whereas multiple victims from a single shooting is the norm. Everywhere else brave citizens confront bad guys, but not in great progressive state of Illinois.

Also, in Illinios the government is making it hard to get the permits...Costs a lot too so those law abiding but poor citizens who may really need a weapon can't afford a permit and the weapon...

I would love to see a pro-carry group or wealthy pro-carry individual set up a fund to provide grants to those who want permits but can not afford them...

Out of state desiring an Illinois CCW will cost $350 if memory serves me correctly.

Aside from the cost of the weapon, the CCW permit is $150 w/out prints and I believe another $80 w/ prints. Classes are 16hrs and 8hrs can be shaved for under special circumstances. The cost of classes can ranger from what I've seen $200 to close $400. Prices vary depending on vendor, the state does not set CCW required class range time, last I heard.

Maybe somewhere else, but not in the progressive state of Illinois and be accused of fostering a gun culture and putting more guns on the street? That person/fund would be accused of hating children and in the pocket of the Koch brothers. Father Pleger would be at the poor soul's home/business protesting.
              It's Illinois!

That's a lot of money to some...

In Arizona the cost of concealed carry is the purchase of the weapon & ammo & (hopefully) a holster....

I still think permits are an infringement but I'm not a lawyer of Judge, so what do I know...
