When I get close to most any ride I usually run the route through Weather Underground's (WU) Road Trip Planner at http://www.wunderground.com/roadtrip/ to get an idea of what's ahead weather wise and a quick look at route options. I'm good with surprises along the way, but there's nothing like knowing you're running into a hailstorm in advance. Normally you can also drag the route line to make changes with weather updates accordingly.
Unfortunately, the WU Road Trip Planner has been Tango Uniform (broken) for several weeks. It's been reported several time to no avail (so far).
A second option is The Weather Channel's Road Trip Planner at http://www.weather.com/travel/trip-planner#. An annoying point with this one is you must put in both the Departure and Destination cities before it'll let you put in the time and date. I thought this site was broken as well until I figured out that little ditty.
A third option, but it only seems useful on the day of travel is Accuweather.com's Driving Directions and Weather at http://www.accuweather.com/en/drivin...ctions-weather. It's also the least user friendly with no way to modify the route. It's a simple point to point option, but even that serves its purpose.
If anyone has other options, by all means toss'm out.
