  • Im about done with the NFL

So these guys go out and beat the crap out of their women, and to do penance, they make ME sit through TV commercials lecturing ME about domestic violence.

And now I have to look at the flag of Mexico in the end zone on the San Francisco game.

I read somewhere that the rate of domestic violence is less in the NFL than the general population.

Yeah right. When someone hits their spouse they go to jail. They don't get to go to work or play with their kids, they go to jail.

All of this has had no effect on my opinion of the NFL. I've never had any use for them.
I have always had better things to do with my time than watch those fools!

Not interested in any sport that concerns a ball.

Motorcycles, boats, sky diving, scuba diving, all lots of fun. Chasing a ball..........boring, and more boring.

Oh do not worry about that flag of Mexico in the end zone, I see yesterday on the news the American flag may insult the immigrants. It is not allowed.

I only watch when the Packers play. The NFL lost me eons ago when commercial time-outs started.

When you can't keep your own house in order the usual plan is to tell everyone else to keep their house in order. Maybe every company in America should make a PSA about domestic violence when one of their employees commits domestic violence. It would be interesting to see which companies have the highest incidents of DV.

If laws with jail time do not dissuade from committing DV how is a football player making a PSA going to?

Better yet the football player can hold up a sign, "#stop DV!".

DV is a serious crime, aside from the victims either being abused or killed, it also affects the children and extended family.

I could be wrong, but I'm assuming that the ads are probably being paid for by the league as an attempt at damage control after they initially bungled their handling of domestic violence incidents by their players. I agree though Cruiseman, it's a bit hypocritical.

The NFL is becoming a feminist activist organization. They already wear pink for a month for breast cancer awareness. As if we aren't all aware of breast cancer by now. I guess they have given up on a cure, they are satisfied to raise millions to raise "awareness".

And now they are going to lecture us on domestic violence.

There is 11 actual minutes of football in an NFL game.
Here's something that even some dedicated students of the game may not fully appreciate: how little actual football there is in a football game. According to a Wall Street Journal study of four recent broadcasts, and similar estimates by researchers, the average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes.
