I wondered who has come over from the other place. That other forum has really gone bonkers lately and ever since they invaded my PM's to some friends, I mentioned it and I have been labeled a troll now. I have also been called out as a liar because according to some of the good ole boys I am full of crap and no moderator has the power to go in and change my PM. Well I got news for all of you, they do and they did and I do not care what anyone thinks because I know the truth. I sure hope this place moves ahead in a positive way so we can all enjoy what should be.

Now that I am "moderating" this forum, so to speak, I am becoming more familiar with how vBulletin works and what its capabilities are. There is no inherent feature in vBulletin for an Admin to read or modify PMs. However, a quick Google reveals that there may be 3rd party add-ons that do give board owners this capability.

Interesting ,,the "professional administrator" only response to accusation of invading PMs and lying about there being NO way he can access or change pms is to name call the questioner names

Well, that was an interesting read (on the other site). I had that discussion over there a long time ago with Bartman. He initially stated that the PMs could not be read. I pointed out that there are tools available to do so, and in addition, unless the messages stored in the MySQL database are encrypted (I don't believe they are), than they could be found (and even modified) via access to the database. He finally acknowledged that it could be done, but that he didn't have that ability himself (this was after initially stating that I didn't know what I was talking about).

There is absolutely no doubt that they are changing PMs. I can't say they're personally accessing them (I don't know), but there is no doubt that PMs are being altered. If you type in the URL to this forum, it changes to the URL of their forum.

I don't care what their terms of service agreement is - this is dishonest. If they want to substitute URLs for "competing web site" (what the heck is a "competing website" anyway; reading one website does nothing to take away from another web site) with "####" or some other method of redaction is one thing; substitution to make it seem as if the OP (or the writer of a PM) posted something they did not is wrong.

When the new Mod says it's not happening, he's not telling the truth. When Bartman said that everyone there that was banned knows why and that it "takes a lot" to get banned, he's not telling the truth. I'm not going to say these guys are lying, because they may not know what someone else is doing, but the statements they are making are false.

The forum is no longer being ethically run; and that's a shame.

I do not think it is a crime to mention another forums name, in fact I have seen it done quite often. I have seen GL1800's name mentioned on Steve Saunders and vice versa yet I don't think anyone was punished or had dialog changed, especially without some type of notice. I was not telling anyone to jump ship either, I simply mentioned that a new place was coming to life and they should check it out. Things went bad when someone went and changed forum names to send them right back where they already were, and yes, that is a shame.

I rarely even look at the place anymore let alone post. I did however have to comment on MrK's video they shot on the Sturgis run. I like to follow him on his rides as they always look like they are having a great time.

I sent a PM to the mod, but now notice they've backed out whatever was changing the URL in the PM's. Dave, don't hold your breath waiting for the apology.
